Chalermchai thanked Thammanat and Narumon for their warm welcome, affirmed his commitment to work in 20 assigned constituencies, declined to comment on the conflict between Klatam and the Democrat Party, and stated that his conscience is "deeper than nature," which will never cause harm to the Democrat Party.
At 14:40 on 25 December 2025 GMT+7 at the BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center, Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, former leader of the Democrat Party, spoke after presenting flowers to congratulate Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, Advisor to the Klatam Party, during the nationwide launch of prospective MP candidates. He said he came to congratulate Lt. Col. Thammanat, the Klatam Party's prime minister candidate, and Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, the party leader, who invited him to attend. He expressed gratitude that his party colleagues who became candidates with Klatam were warmly welcomed.
Mr. Chalermchai stated that throughout his political career, wherever he has been, he has always given 100 percent effort. Today, as a Thai citizen, he has the right and freedom to choose whom to support. However, reports claiming he applied to join Klatam are false. He is simply exercising his rights as a Thai citizen. Since his party colleagues are now with Klatam, he is fully committed to supporting Klatam, giving his all and assuring not to worry.
Regarding the conflict between Klatam and the Democrat Party, Mr. Chalermchai said it is not his concern. Mostly, he focuses on politics through action rather than words. In elections, every party must compete, and ultimately the people decide. Whoever gains more trust wins; whoever gains less loses, according to the rules. He suggested settling disputes through elections and declined to comment on Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva’s announcement that his party will not cooperate with Klatam.
Mr. Chalermchai said that since he left the Democrat Party, he has never given interviews because after resigning as party leader, others’ interviews caused damage to the party. He recalled his phrase, “Conscience deeper than nature,” which he had previously said. Now that he has left, he will never harm the Democrat Party and thus chooses not to give interviews. Nevertheless, his political path and that of his colleagues remain connected; they have been together a long time, and he helps them when he can. Since they decided to join Klatam, he naturally supports them openly and transparently, not secretly, conducting politics openly.
When asked if he feels at ease now, Mr. Chalermchai replied that as a Thai citizen, he has the right to choose or support anyone. He said frankly everyone knows that since he is here, he will work fully for his party colleagues without worry, emphasizing that he operates openly, not behind the scenes.
When asked whether he will help with Klatam’s strategic planning, Mr. Chalermchai said he will not be deeply involved but, in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, where candidates from his team are running, he has the responsibility to assist all candidates there. This is part of his regional duty and his responsibility as a former leader of those candidates.
When asked how many constituencies he is responsible for, Mr. Chalermchai said 20. Asked if he has set a target for how many seats to win, he said no targets are set because if more voters support a candidate, that candidate wins; if fewer voters do, the candidate loses. Setting specific targets would be disrespectful to the voters. He believes the people should decide who their representatives are. Regarding ongoing criticisms of Klatam and whether they will affect the party, he said he does not know and focuses only on his work.
