Bangkok Election Commission Conducts Full Rehearsal Ahead of Constituency MP Candidate Registration, Warns Against Entertainment Events After Drawing Numbers

The Bangkok Election Commission held a full rehearsal before the constituency MP candidate registration day, announcing over 90% readiness and reminding candidates not to organize entertainment events after drawing their candidate numbers.

On 26 Dec 2025, the Bangkok Election Commission Office conducted a simulated rehearsal for constituency MP candidate registration at Vadhana 2 Sports Hall, Bangkok-Thai-Japanese Youth Center, Din Daeng District, Bangkok. Preparations covered all 33 constituencies' registration venues, and city officials were briefed on the registration procedures, with registration scheduled to open from 27 to 31 Dec 2025.

The venue was divided into two areas: an outer section for media and an inner building area for registration. Officials arranged waiting seats for candidates arriving before 08:30 as per the plan; those arriving before this time are considered to have arrived together. Officials were reminded to strictly verify candidates' voting rights, following news that a deputy party leader failed to vote in a by-election and thus lost the right to register this time. Eligibility checks also include verifying that party membership lasted at least 30 days up to election day.

Party leaders, executive committee members, and key party figures are not allowed in the building's lower area but only on the upper stands. Candidates may bring only essential companions into the registration area.

Lieutenant Samphan Saengkamlerd, Director of the Bangkok Election Commission Office, stated that the office is 80-90% ready in terms of venue, equipment, and personnel. Today’s meeting thoroughly rehearsed procedures, allowing committees and staff to review actual materials and practice on-site to ensure smooth elections and registrations. Staff will report for duty from 05:00 to prepare for registration starting at 08:30.

Regarding crowd areas, officials will manage and inform supporters that they cannot enter inside the registration site and must remain outside. Supporters are reminded to refrain from loud noises or disturbing candidates. The number drawing will not be broadcast live, but media will be allowed to take photos as appropriate.

Lieutenant Samphan emphasized that candidates must strictly avoid organizing entertainment or celebrations after receiving their numbers. Parades are allowed, but no music performances or traditional drum shows. He added that he has instructed a gradual, step-by-step approach with proper documentation at each stage to avoid confusion or disorder.
