Trinuch Dismisses Rumors of Quitting as PPRP Prime Minister Candidate Affirms Party Unity and Gen. Prawit’s Continued Support

Trinuch dismisses rumors that she has given up her candidacy for prime minister under the PPRP. She emphasizes that the party remains intact, not collapsed or fractured, and confirms that Gen. Prawit continues to be involved, providing intellectual support and advice to party members.

On 26 Dec 2025 at Thairath News Agency, Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour and the PPRP’s prime ministerial candidate, congratulated Thairath newspaper on its 76th anniversary and affirmed in an interview that she remains the PPRP’s prime ministerial candidate, continuing to work steadfastly for the people under the party’s name.

When asked if she had lost heart after Mr. Theerachai Phuwanatnaranuban resigned as deputy party leader and prime ministerial candidate yesterday, Ms. Trinuch said they are seasoned politicians who have been through many political cycles. Their goal entering politics is to serve the people. Along the way, there may be ups and downs and storms, but their position remains to continue working, whether in Sa Kaeo province or in the administration. She is still serving as Minister of Labour and aims to keep working for the country.

Asked if the PPRP can still move forward, Ms. Trinuch laughed and replied that there are many parties, but everyone believes the PPRP shares a common goal to work for the people. She believes they are ready to stay united. Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, the party leader, also affirms he remains with the party and will not let go. He continues as an advisor, offering opportunities to those who remain to think and help work for the country. Although behind the scenes, his accumulated experience provides valuable support to the party and serves as intellectual strength and senior counsel.

Regarding rumors that she has given up and the party will collapse, Ms. Trinuch said many false reports have been spread very quickly. She prefers not to comment much but will focus on organizing and strengthening the party system first, and will communicate clearly with everyone soon. About the final number of candidates both in constituencies and party lists, she said it is still flexible; over 200 have been approved, but who stays and moves forward is not the main issue. The party’s clear goal is to move on and continue working to help the people.

Ms. Trinuch added that after registering as a constituency MP candidate in Sa Kaeo province, she will go on 28 Dec 2025 to submit the party list of candidates to the Election Commission at the Centara Government Complex Hotel.

When asked about rumors of the party splitting, Ms. Trinuch reiterated that she remains with the party and the party executive committee still stands. Those who share their ideals and align with their thinking continue together. She is not worried because she is still in her position. The executive committee is still sufficient and there is no need for new elections, even though Mr. Wan Yoobamrung and Mr. Theerachai Phuwanatnaranuban have resigned from the executive committee.
