Ta Narakorn explains his decision to run for MP in Chiang Mai Constituency 1 with the Democrat Party, confident of victory despite fierce competition, emphasizing his role as the people's voice.
At 1:00 p.m. on 26 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Democrat Party headquarters, Ms. Narakorn Tiyan (Ta), a well-known news anchor, spoke about her candidacy for MP in Chiang Mai Constituency 1 with the Democrat Party. She said she had just decided to run after the parliament was dissolved but had considered entering politics for years. Having previously run for senator but lost, she witnessed various events such as the senator rigging and corruption, especially scams—she herself was once a victim. She wants to push against corruption, aligning with the Democrat Party's "Honest Politics" campaign led by Abhisit. She believes that without honest politics, Thailand cannot reform its structures and systems, so starting with honest politics is essential. This motivated her to join the Democrat Party.
Ms. Narakorn added that although competition in Chiang Mai, especially Constituency 1, is intense and past winners have been highly capable, she focuses on her own stance and goals. She wants to develop Chiang Mai, her hometown. While locals may have previously chosen others, she sees this as a good opportunity as a new political figure—not a newcomer but someone serious and goal-oriented from Thai media. She is confident she can establish herself locally because people want change. She observed that politicians often share benefits within groups once in office, while citizens only have power on election day to criticize. Therefore, citizens should have more power to oversee, and she intends to be a loud voice in scrutinizing and advocating for the people.
