Poll Indicates Public Dissatisfaction with Previous Cabinet Regional Differences in Interest in Prime Ministerial Candidates

A poll by the Pra Pokklao Institute shows that people are generally dissatisfied with the previous Cabinet's performance. Interest in prime ministerial candidates varies notably by region: Bangkok and the North most want to hear from “Teng,” the Central and South prefer “Abhisit,” while the Northeast ranks “Anyone” as number one.


On 26 Dec 2025, the Pra Pokklao Institute released the survey results titled “Voices in the Minds of Citizens During Political Transition.” Associate Professor Dr. Issara Sereewatthanawut, Secretary-General of the Pra Pokklao Institute and Chair of the KPI Poll Center, emphasized that the KPI Poll is designed as an academic poll to reflect political realities neutrally, truthfully, and usefully, with academic standards and precision. It does not aim to guide politics but to listen to political opinions from the public. The survey was conducted between 30 Nov and 10 Dec 2025 among 2,016 respondents aged 18 and older nationwide. Key findings from the survey are as follows.

How satisfied are you overall with the performance of the previous Cabinet? The results showed:

  • 42.6% responded “somewhat dissatisfied”
  • 25.0% responded “somewhat satisfied”
  • 24.6% responded “completely dissatisfied”
  • 3.1% responded “very satisfied”
  • 4.7% responded “no opinion” regarding the overall performance of the previous Cabinet.

When grouping responses by region, it was found that

the combined group of “completely dissatisfied–somewhat dissatisfied” was the largest at 67.2%, distributed as follows:

  • Bangkok 5.9%
  • Central region 19.3%
  • Northeastern region 21.2%
  • Northern region 12.3%
  • Southern region 8.5%

Meanwhile, the combined group of “very satisfied–somewhat satisfied” totaled 28.1%, divided as:

  • Bangkok 2.0%
  • Central 5.4%
  • Northeast 10.8%
  • North 4.6%
  • South 5.3%

Finally, the “no opinion” category accounted for 4.7% overall,

  • with Bangkok at 0.5%
  • Central 2.1%
  • Northeast 1.3%
  • North 0.7%
  • South 0.1%

Examining by age group, the combined “completely dissatisfied–somewhat dissatisfied” group was highest at 67.2%, distributed as:

  • Ages 18-25 at 10.6%
  • Ages 26-35 at 11.2%
  • Ages 36-45 at 10.7%
  • Ages 46-55 at 14.3%
  • Ages 56 and above at 20.4%

Meanwhile, the “very satisfied–somewhat satisfied” group totaled 28.1%, divided into:

  • Ages 18-25 at 3.0%
  • Ages 26-35 at 3.5%
  • Ages 36-45 at 4.0%
  • Ages 46-55 at 7.0%
  • Ages 56 and above at 10.6%

The “no opinion” group accounted for 4.7% overall,

  • with ages 18–25 at 0.8%
  • 26–35 at 0.5%
  • 36–45 at 0.9%
  • 46–55 at 1.1%
  • 56 and above at 1.4%

Regarding the question, “Which party leader’s debate would you most like to hear?” classified by residence, interest in candidates shows a clear regional difference.

In Bangkok,

  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut received 19.6%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul received 15.4%
  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva received 12.2%
  • Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat received 11.4%

In the Central region,

  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva received 14.1%
  • Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat and “Anyone” both at 14.0%

In the Northeast,

  • “Anyone” led with 20.8%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 17.6%
  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut had 13.6%

In the North,

  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut led with 25.8%
  • General Rungsi Kitiyantrasap received 13.1%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 11.6%

In the South,

  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva led with 27.2%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul followed with 24.0%
  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut had 16.3%
  • “Anyone” received 0.6%

Breaking down by age group, interest in candidates varies notably by age.

Among ages 18-25,

  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut led with 27.1%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 11.8%
  • “Anyone” had 10.6%

Among ages 26-35,

  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut had 22.3%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 13.5%
  • “Anyone” had 12.4%

Among ages 36-45,

  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul led with 18.1%
  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva had 14.8%
  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut had 12.6%

Among ages 46-55,

  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 16.7%
  • Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut had 15.5%
  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva had 14.8%

Among ages 56 and above,

  • Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva led with 17.2%
  • Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul had 16.5%
  • Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat had 12.5%
