Yotsanan Confident Pheu Thai Will Sweep All Districts in Bangkok, Reaffirms 20-Baht Skytrain Fare Was Implemented During Their Government

Yotsanan Wongsawat is confident of sweeping all districts in Bangkok. Next week, he will unveil deeper policy plans emphasizing reducing overall expenses for Bangkok residents. He reaffirmed that the 20-baht skytrain fare was implemented during their government but was disrupted by political incidents.

On 27 Dec 2025 at 07:20 GMT+7, at the Thai-Japanese Stadium in Din Daeng, Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai's prime ministerial candidate, along with Jirayu Huangsap, Pheu Thai candidate for Bangkok governor and MP for Khlong Sam Wa district, gave an interview on the Green Headline morning news program.

Yotsanan expressed confidence in winning all 33 districts of Bangkok. Meanwhile, Jirayu said he is confident in district 16, having worked and canvassed there continuously, even though he is not currently an MP. He believes they can win the support of Bangkok residents.

When asked if he has become accustomed to debating after many appearances since his candidacy, Yotsanan said that every time he goes, he knows what to communicate. Initially, people asked more about his background since they did not know him well, but now they are beginning to recognize him. Therefore, he is starting to unveil policies. Next week, he will present more detailed policy plans. He emphasized that communicating policies is not too difficult because many people remember his slides, which is positive. To set a clear agenda, people must see it. He stressed these are not populist policies but solutions addressing root problems alongside a broader perspective.

When asked why Bangkok residents should choose Pheu Thai, Yotsanan said they aim to reduce expenses system-wide. This is important because many Bangkok residents are government employees, private sector workers, or own small businesses. Transportation is a key focus since many have not fully recovered post-COVID. They plan to reduce costs, including lowering the skytrain fare to 20 baht using private sector mechanisms without burdening the state budget. Additionally, feeder services and air-conditioned buses at 10 baht will be connected. They will also implement an integrated ticketing law, which will lower costs and reduce pollution.

Furthermore, they plan to encourage shopping and tourism by making the country safe and secure and promoting opportunity-based tourism. They aim to develop the tourism industry by expanding airports to boost tourism activity and improve safety using AI technologies, which Yotsanan is working on in cooperation with Bangkok authorities.

When asked why the 20-baht skytrain fare was not implemented during their government despite seeing signs promoting it, Yotsanan confirmed it was nearly completed. If given another month or two, they believe it could have been realized. However, political disruptions prevented the public from benefiting from it. They have not stopped and intend to reintroduce this initiative and strive to make it the best possible.

Regarding debt relief for people aged 70 and over, Yotsanan said that for debts of 100,000 baht, they will provide full relief. They also plan to address debts across all age groups, including tackling informal debts and establishing a credit guarantee company to assist those who cannot obtain bank loans, helping SMEs to recover.

Asked about his political stance, Yotsanan reiterated that he is open to collaboration with all, requesting only that leaders listen to the people's voice first rather than their own, to foster openness and ensure policies reach the public effectively.

Jirayu expressed confidence in Pheu Thai's policies. Regarding his district, he will focus on suburban rather than rural policies, ensuring equal benefits. Transportation remains essential, and Pheu Thai’s policies aim to make travel convenient by coordinating national and local policies concurrently.
