Election 2026: Teng Leads People Party MPs to Register for Constituency Elections, Reveals Potential Alliance with Democrat Party (Video)

"Teng Natthapong" leads the People Party MPs in registering for constituency elections, revealing the opportunity to join forces with the Democrat Party to form a government. He stresses the party's stance against the "gray zone," emphasizing that political responsibility is higher than legal responsibility.

On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters reported that the People Party gave an interview to Thairath TV after arriving at Sports Building 2, Thai-Japanese Stadium (Din Daeng), Bangkok, to register for constituency elections in Bangkok. The delegation was led by Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People Party, and Mr. Nattha Cha Boonchaiinsawat.

Mr. Natthapong revealed that this year the People Party is fielding candidates for all 33 constituencies. The party is ready to be a hope and choice for the people, confident that in this election, they will earn trust in all 33 constituencies in Bangkok. However, they remain cautious and have the duty to visit areas to explain policies and gain votes.

Mr. Natthapong further stated he believes an important factor for voters in this election is whether politicians have ties to the "gray zone." Currently, the country faces many problems, including the slowest economic growth in ASEAN, social inequality, corruption, and the major issue of gray capital dominating the nation, the financial market, and now attempting to seize parliament. The remaining problems cannot be solved without addressing the root cause: the origin of those gaining power without owing favors. They aim to eradicate gray capital completely, without leniency. The People Party’s policies for Bangkok are believed to meet the city's needs.

Meanwhile, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva arrived at the Thairath TV live broadcast area. Reporters took the opportunity to ask about the People Party’s announcement not to cooperate with the Kla Party, and the Democrat Party’s declaration not to join with Kla Party either, questioning whether these two teams could work together. Mr. Natthapong said their focus is putting the country first. If all parties joining the government with the People Party have a clear stance of no gray zone, equality, and a globally competitive Thai economy, then any minister with a history linked to these issues must be immediately replaced. Political responsibility is greater than legal responsibility; there is no need to wait for the conclusion of legal proceedings to ensure thorough oversight.

Mr. Abhisit revealed they already share a common view on combating gray capital. The People Party has taken this stance as the opposition, as has the Democrat Party since his leadership. During last night's debate, they discussed policy differences, such as the amnesty law and Section 112, which require further clarification. However, the principle in forming a government coalition is to guide the country in the same direction.

Regarding Section 112, Mr. Natthapong said that during the debate, the Constitutional Court’s ruling prohibits any political party from using the issue of amending Section 112 in their campaigns. He hopes no party will exploit this issue in future election campaigns.
