Phayao - Uthai Thani: Major Parties Field Two Famous Candidates for MP Seats Amid Strong Supporters

The atmosphere on the first day of MP candidate registration was lively in Phayao and Uthai Thani, where major parties fielded well-known candidates to contest seats. "Akara" secured number 3 for District 1 in Phayao, while "Chada" led the Bhumjaithai Party team with number 2 across Uthai Thani.

On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters observed that the first day of MP candidate registration in many areas was bustling, especially in Phayao and Uthai Thani, which are strongholds of prominent politicians. Supporters from various parties came out in large numbers to cheer their candidates.

At the Phayao Municipal Staff Club, the atmosphere was intense with candidates from five major parties registering. The highlight was Mr. Akara Phromphao (younger brother of Captain Thammanat Phromphao) from the Kla Tham Party, contesting District 1 with number 3. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai nominated Mr. Wichai Chaimongkol with number 5. For Districts 2 and 3, candidates agreed on numbers without a lottery: Kla Tham got number 1 in both districts, Prachachon Party number 2, and Pheu Thai number 3.

At the Election Commission office in Uthai Thani, the atmosphere was equally lively. Candidates from five major parties eagerly awaited the lottery for numbers, agreeing beforehand to use the same number across the province for each party. The results were: number 1 for Pheu Thai with Mr. Thanakorn Unjanam (District 1) and Mr. Attapon Towsajja (District 2); number 2 for Bhumjaithai led by Mr. Chada Thaiset (District 2) and Mr. Jeset Thaiset (District 1); and number 3 for Prachachon Party with Mr. Decha Khongkha (District 1) and Ms. Suchada Buapan (District 2).

After registration concluded, Bhumjaithai supporters swarmed around Mr. Chada to present flowers and take photos, filling the Election Commission office area in Uthai Thani to capacity.

The Election Commission offices in both provinces stated that the first day of registration proceeded smoothly and transparently. They will continue accepting applications until 31 Dec 2025 GMT+7, including public holidays, to allow interested individuals full access to the election process under the law.
