On 27 Dec 2025, Buriram's first day for MP candidate registration saw full participation from all parties. Sopon Sarum led Bhumjaithai in launching new MP candidates, confident of nearly 200 seats. Meanwhile, Mai Sirikanya, deputy leader of the People's Party, led a full slate of candidates in all 10 constituencies. Pheu Thai fielded Mai Sukadecha, drummer of the band I-Num, to contest Buriram's 5th constituency.
On 27 Dec 2025, reporters noted that the atmosphere for registering MP candidates by constituency in Buriram province was lively from 08:30 onward, with nearly all political parties present to register on the first day.
As expected, the three main parties—Bhumjaithai, the People's Party, and Pheu Thai—brought enthusiastic supporters. The People's Party was joined by Mai Sirikanya Tansakul, deputy leader for policy, who came to support the party's full slate of candidates.
Ms. Sirikanya said Buriram is a strategic province for the People's Party. Although they did not secure the province in the last election, their party-list votes surpassed Bhumjaithai's in the area by over 200,000 votes, and they also won nationwide.
This time, the party aims to persuade voters to choose both their constituency candidates and party list, to firmly establish the orange flag in Buriram. She acknowledged it is a difficult task to break through in Buriram.
Regarding the 44 MPs with pending cases at the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the deadlines have been extended. The party still believes these are not offenses but remains cautious, having mitigated risks because uncertainty remains. Anything can happen in this country.
Meanwhile, Pheu Thai has fielded candidates for all 10 constituencies, mostly incumbents, except for "Mai Sukadecha." The drummer of the band I-Num is contesting in the 5th constituency against Sopon Sarum. He said his candidacy is supported by fellow band members who want to bring democratic change to Buriram.
Bhumjaithai, though mostly fielding incumbents, introduced two new candidates: Ms. Natthida Lekudakorn, 25, daughter of Buriram Provincial Administrative Organization Chief Phusit Lekudakorn and niece of Newin Chidchob; and Mr. Chankan Timatarika, 29, running in place of his father Rangsikorn Timatarika, a former MP.
Sopon Sarum, Bhumjaithai deputy prime minister, said after registering that this time the party is more confident than ever. In Buriram alone, they have a strong hold with both veteran and new politicians.
He added that when Bhumjaithai first formed the government, they achieved more in just two months than other parties did in two years. Now, they believe this election will see Bhumjaithai secure nearly 200 parliamentary seats for sure.
