Ratchaburi Buzzing on First Day of MP Registration, Nitikanjana Household Switches Parties to Defend Seats

The atmosphere on the first day of MP registration for Ratchaburi constituencies was very lively. The Kla Tham party showcased the prominent Nitikanjana family registering as a full slate, fielding Boonying Nitikanjana, Chaitip Kamolphantip, and Chatuporn Kamolphantip, aiming to hold three districts. Meanwhile, Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai, and Prachachon parties went all out by nominating candidates in all five districts, hoping to penetrate key strongholds.

At 07:30 on 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the first day of MP candidate registration for Ratchaburi Province at the city gymnasium was bustling. Leading contenders from various major parties lined up to submit their candidacies amid intense competition even before the doors opened. Supporters arrived carrying campaign signs and flowers to cheer on their favored candidates.

The morning highlight was the Prachachon party candidates arriving at 07:07, followed closely by representatives from seven other parties, including Pheu Thai, Bhumjaithai, Kla Tham, Democrat, and Ruam Jai Sang Chart. The Election Commission had to hold a lottery to assign candidate numbers, watched eagerly by excited supporters.

A special focus was on the Kla Tham party’s slate led by Boonying Nitikanjana, accompanied by Chaitip Kamolphantip and Chatuporn Kamolphantip—three former MPs who switched from Palang Pracharath to Kla Tham this election. "Kamnan Tuy" Wivat Nitikanjana, Ratchaburi Provincial Administrative Organization chief and family, came to support Boonying and her team closely, declaring their commitment to defend all three seats.

Meanwhile, major parties Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai, and Prachachon were not to be outdone, nominating candidates in all five districts, aiming to capture every seat. This made the Ratchaburi election a true "clash of elephants."

The frontrunner in District 1 is Kulwalee Nopamornbodi, a former MP who switched from Ruam Thai Sang Chart to run under Bhumjaithai, aiming to defend her seat. In District 2, Boonying Nitikanjana from the prominent family and former MP switched from Palang Pracharath to Kla Tham to retain her seat. District 3’s frontrunner is Chatuporn Kamolphantip, also from the Nitikanjana family and a former MP who switched from Palang Pracharath to Kla Tham to defend his seat.

District 4’s frontrunner is Akardej Wongpitakron, a former MP who switched from Ruam Thai Sang Chart to Bhumjaithai to defend his seat. District 5’s frontrunner is Chaitip Kamolphantip, from the Nitikanjana family and a former MP who switched from Palang Pracharath to Kla Tham to seek re-election.

Nattakorn Kongdecha, director of the Ratchaburi Election Commission office, personally oversaw the smooth conduct of registration. He reported that the first day went smoothly, with registration continuing until 31 Dec. Ratchaburi has five constituencies with 693,035 registered voters. In 2023, voter turnout reached a record 82.84%, and the 2026 election is expected to surpass this turnout.
