The Kalatham Party invites Paweena Hongsakul to join their ranks as Chief Advisor on Justice and a party-list MP candidate, praising her as a true justice fighter who has devoted over 30 years to protecting children, women, and vulnerable groups.
On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at 15:30, Mr. Akara Phromphao, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, Navy Captain Anudith Nakornthap, Chairman of Kalatham Party Strategy, along with Ms. Thanaporn Sriwirat, wife of Captain Thammanat Phromphao and Chief Advisor of Kalatham Party as the party's prime ministerial candidate, met with Paweena Hongsakul, Chairperson of the Paweena Foundation for Children and Women, former multiple-term Member of Parliament and former minister of several ministries, to formally invite her to join the Kalatham Party.
Mr. Akara stated that the Kalatham Party has invited Ms. Paweena to serve as Chief Advisor on Justice and Public Protection and also to stand as a party-list MP candidate under the Kalatham banner to jointly drive policies on social issues, justice, and protection of children, women, and vulnerable groups in a concrete way.
“During my tenure overseeing the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, I have clearly seen that social work still faces many tasks and problems requiring personnel with experience, knowledge, and a genuine heart for public service. Ms. Paweena has been engaged in social work for over 30 years and is widely recognized for her role in assisting children and women who are victims of violence and injustice,” Mr. Akara said.
He added that inviting Ms. Paweena to join reflects the Kalatham Party’s direction of recruiting experienced, proven individuals who have earned societal respect to help drive the country forward, especially in addressing structural social problems to create lasting fairness and improved quality of life for the people.
Navy Captain Anudith said that as a former multiple-term MP who has worked alongside Ms. Paweena, he regards her as a respected elder sister and has witnessed her continuous dedication to advancing social work, whether in political roles or civil society through the Paweena Foundation for Children and Women, which plays a crucial role in bridging justice system gaps and supporting many distressed citizens.
“Thailand today still faces many issues affecting children, women, and vulnerable social groups. Having personnel who deeply understand these problems and can link policy work with practical implementation will help ensure sustainable solutions. The Kalatham Party agrees that Ms. Paweena is highly suitable for this role,” Captain Anudith said.
Ms. Paweena said she has closely followed the government’s social work efforts and appreciates the dedication of officials who actively work, which is commendable as it shows genuine care for the people. She noted that Thai society currently faces many accumulating problems that require urgent, serious attention to avoid societal failure. Key issues needing immediate action include new forms of human trafficking such as surrogacy, egg selling, and exploitation of the human body, where Thailand lags behind international standards, as well as drug problems that require comprehensive solutions including treatment, rehabilitation, support, education, and long-term job creation, rather than short-term treatment followed by release back into society.
“Policies that are not truly implemented and lack evaluation lead to endless social problems. I am glad to join because the Kalatham Party allows me to work fully, and I hope the party will be bold in tackling these complex issues seriously to bring about real change,” Ms. Paweena said.
