Fierce First Day of Nong Khai MP Election: Former Police Inspector General “Pol. Lt. Gen. Thoe” Joins Bhumjaithai Party

Nong Khai — The atmosphere on the first day of MP candidate registration for all three constituencies was vibrant. Each party brought supporters to encourage their candidates. Among them was Pol. Lt. Gen. Paisan Luesomboon, known as Pol. Gen. Thoe, former police inspector general, wearing the Bhumjaithai Party shirt.

On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the first day of registration for members of the House of Representatives in Nong Khai province was held at Prajak Sinlapakom Auditorium, the provincial hall registration site. Mr. Paitoon Mahachuenjai, Deputy Governor of Nong Khai, Ms. Phajonglak Sotsiri, Director of the Nong Khai Provincial Election Office, along with the Election Commission and staff, supervised the registration process.

Candidates from all three constituencies and their supporters, including both returning and new candidates, held up campaign signs enthusiastically. The atmosphere was lively and bustling.

Nong Khai province is divided into three electoral constituencies.

In constituency 1, seven candidates submitted their registration documents: 1. Col. Thanatmes Patnarongrasm from the Economic Party, 2. Ms. Apinya Boonchan from the People’s Party, 3. Mr. Krisada Tanterdthit from the Pheu Thai Party, 4. Mr. Krasae Trakulpornpong from the Palang Pracharath Party (incumbent MP), 5. Pol. Lt. Gen. Paisan Luesomboon from the Bhumjaithai Party (former police inspector general), 6. Mr. Pitchawut Laosirivijit from the Kla Tham Party, and 7. Mr. Raphipong Punyajarusiri from the Democrat Party.

In constituency 2, five candidates registered: 1. Ms. Chanok Chantathong from the Pheu Thai Party (incumbent MP), 2. Ms. Jidapha Suntornthanakul from the Bhumjaithai Party, 3. Mr. Yuthana Sritabut from the Palang Pracharath Party, 4. Mr. Thongchai Kingmat from the Democrat Party, and 5. Ms. Tosaporn Jansri from the People’s Party.

In constituency 3, four candidates submitted documents: 1. Mr. Chainarong Chaisuk from the People’s Party, 2. Mr. Sakda Jantrasuwan from the Bhumjaithai Party, 3. Mr. Satit Srisawat from the Democrat Party, and 4. Mr. Ekthanat Inrod from the Pheu Thai Party (incumbent MP).

Subsequently, the Nong Khai Election Commission reviewed candidates’ qualifications to certify them according to regulations before each candidate began introducing themselves and campaigning within their constituencies. Major parties fielded full slates, with constituencies 1 and 2 expected to be fiercely competitive, described as a clash of titans. This poses a challenge for Pheu Thai candidates to reclaim seats from Palang Pracharath or possibly lose them to Bhumjaithai.

Constituency 2 is also a tough contest for Ms. Chanok Chantathong, former MP from Pheu Thai, aiming to retain her seat amid strong competition. Challengers include Dr. Yuthana Sritabut of Palang Pracharath, a former multiple-term provincial administrative organization chief with a solid support base among sub-district councilors and municipalities, and Dr. Jidapha Suntornthanakul, known as Dr. Milk from Bhumjaithai, who has persistently canvassed door-to-door to close any gaps.

In constituency 3, Mr. Ekthanat Inrod of Pheu Thai, a firmly seated incumbent, faces a relatively easier contest due to his grounded reputation. Ultimately, it depends on voters’ decisions on who will represent them.
