Sahai Saeng Withdraws from Nakhon Phanom Election, Sends Daughter to Lead Bhumjaithai Against Prominent Pheu Thai

The Nakhon Phanom MP election is expected to be intense. "Sahai Saeng" has stepped back, sending his daughter, the "former provincial chief executive," to run and lead the Bhumjaithai team. Meanwhile, "Monporn Charoensri," former Deputy Minister of Transport, leads the Pheu Thai team, vowing to sweep all seats in the province to support forming a majority government.

On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at the Yongjaiyut Community Hall, Nakhon Phanom provincial hall, the first day of MP candidate registration was lively. Political parties with strong popularity are expected to compete fiercely. The two major parties, Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, are contesting all four constituencies covering 12 districts.

Originally, each party held two incumbent MP seats. For Pheu Thai, constituency 1 is Dr. Phumiphat Phachrathap, candidate number 3; constituency 2 is Ms. Monporn Charoensri, candidate number 1; for Bhumjaithai, constituency 3 is Dr. Alongkot Maneekat, candidate number 4; and constituency 4 is Mr. Chukan Kulwongsa, candidate number 3.

This election draws attention as Mr. Supachai Phosu, former MP for constituency 1 Nakhon Phanom from Bhumjaithai, known as "Sahai Saeng," is not running himself. It is believed he has stepped back because in the 2023 election, he ran in a different constituency against Ms. Monporn Charoensri, former MP for constituency 2 from Pheu Thai, resulting in his defeat.

This time, it is believed the political succession goes to his daughter, Ms. Supapanee Phosu, or "Nayok Kwan," former Nakhon Phanom Provincial Administrative Organization chief executive, who lost in the local election, now running for MP in her father's former constituency, constituency 1 Nakhon Phanom.

This year, constituency 1 features a contest between Ms. Supapanee Phosu, candidate number 1 for Bhumjaithai, aiming to reclaim the seat, against Dr. Phumiphat Phachrathap, candidate number 3 for Pheu Thai, the incumbent champion. If Pheu Thai's popularity remains strong, "former Nayok Kwan" may face disappointment again, depending on policies and trust in working with local people.

In constituency 2, the competition is between Mr. Naphatsakorn Thapsasit, candidate number 2 for Bhumjaithai, a former Pheu Thai candidate for constituency 4 in 2023. Believed disappointed by Pheu Thai's decision not to select him this election, he switched to Bhumjaithai. He faces Ms. Monporn Charoensri, candidate number 1 for Pheu Thai and former Deputy Minister of Transport.

Constituency 3 is a power test for Pheu Thai to reclaim the seat. They field energetic young candidate Mr. Thanakorn Praneenit, candidate number 6, former district councilor and twice-elected provincial assembly member from That Phanom district, aiming to unseat the incumbent champion Dr. Alongkot Maneekat, candidate number 4 for Bhumjaithai.

Finally, in constituency 4, Pheu Thai fields Mr. Chanchai Khamchampa, candidate number 1, former deputy chief of the provincial administrative organization, challenging the incumbent champion Mr. Chukan Kulwongsa, candidate number 3 for Bhumjaithai.
