Jes Tonawanik, former advisor to the Constitution Drafting Committee, explained his reasons for accepting the candidacy for prime minister with the Rakchat Party, stating that their ideology and viewpoints align.
At 11:35 AM on 28 December 2025 GMT+7 at the Centara Life Hotel, Government Complex and Convention Center Chaeng Watthana, Jes Tonawanik, Rakchat Party (RCh) prime ministerial candidate, spoke after the party received number 35. Jes said the decision to become the party's candidate came because Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, the party leader, believed that recent politics could no longer be left unattended and that change was necessary. Relying only on those disappointed by past elections wouldn't work. Chaiwut had discussions with younger generations, saw their determination but noted their lack of political experience, so he invited Jes to advise them. Eventually, Jes was invited to become the prime ministerial candidate, a conversation that had been ongoing from the start. After seeing the party's vision and perspective, Jes agreed, seeing that their attitudes and ideals matched. Regarding debates on various platforms, Jes said he and Chaiwut will share responsibilities: Chaiwut will handle political dimensions, while Jes will focus on academic and other aspects.
