Trinuch Thienthong: The Sole Female Prime Ministerial Candidate for Palang Pracharath Party in 2026 Election

Trinuch Thienthong is the only female prime ministerial candidate from the Palang Pracharath Party in the 2026 election, following the withdrawals of General Prawit Wongsuwan and Theerachai Phuwanatnaranubala from the race.

On 28 December 2025 GMT+7, it became clear that after General Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, withdrew as the party's prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Theerachai Phuwanatnaranubala also resigned from his candidacy just one day later. This came despite Theerachai having only participated in one pre-election debate. He explained that since General Prawit resigned on 24 December, he too decided to step down from the prime ministerial candidacy as well as from his positions as deputy party leader and party executive committee member. His main reason was his personal loyalty to General Prawit, and under the current circumstances, he felt it was time to step away from politics for now.

Palang Pracharath Party's prime ministerial candidates

As a result, currently the Palang Pracharath Party only has one female prime ministerial candidate, Ms. Trinuch Thienthong. She currently serves as the secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party and is also running for Member of Parliament in Sa Kaeo Province's 2nd electoral district. During the recent party number draw for campaigning, Ms. Trinuch drew number 43.

Today, Ms. Trinuch said in an interview on Thairath TV that General Prawit assigned them to work with the key goal of serving the people. She expressed a desire for the younger generation to better address the needs of the public. She noted that Thailand faces multiple crises at present. The Palang Pracharath Party focuses on security, recovery, and support to help citizens overcome these challenges. She wished that they would become a source of hope and support for the people. Although General Prawit is not running on the party list nor as a prime ministerial candidate, he remains behind the scenes offering his experience and assistance. While he may no longer be directly involved in politics, he still cares deeply about the nation.
