
The Election Commission (EC) summarized the first day of party-list MP registrations, reporting 52 parties submitted a total of 1,502 party-list candidates. Among them, 34 parties nominated prime ministerial candidates, totaling 73 individuals. Meanwhile, over two days, 3,199 candidates registered for constituency MP seats.
At 5:00 p.m. on 28 December 2025 at Centara Life Hotel, Government Complex and Convention Center Chaeng Watthana, Lieutenant Commander Phasakorn Siriphakayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, provided an overview of the MP election registrations for both constituency and party-list seats. He reported that, as of 4:45 p.m. on 28 December 2025, a total of 3,199 candidates had registered for 400 constituency seats over the past two days.
. . . On the first day of party-list MP registrations, 52 political parties submitted their applications before 8:00 a.m., each presenting one party-list of candidates totaling 1,502 individuals. Additionally, 34 parties nominated a total of 73 prime ministerial candidates. The registration period will remain open until 31 December 2025.
The Deputy Secretary-General also addressed the referendum process, stating that the government awaits the Prime Minister’s announcement of the referendum voting date, expected on 2 January 2026. He emphasized that voter registration for the election and referendum must be done separately. Advance voting for MPs is scheduled for 1 February 2026, with advance voter registration open from 20 December 2025 to 5 January 2026. The referendum voting will be held nationwide on the same day, with no advance voting allowed. However, registration for out-of-district voting will be open from 3 to 5 January 2026, and the referendum vote will coincide with the general election on 8 February 2026.
“Regarding the referendum timeline, the Prime Minister is expected to announce the voting date on 2 January 2026. Out-of-district voter registration will be available from 3 to 5 January 2026. On 4 February 2026, the list of overseas voters and countries where registration occurred will be announced, with all processes proceeding according to the timeline until the voting day on 8 February 2026,” he said.
