Dr. Niyom Vechakama Joins New Opportunity Party to Run for MP in Sakon Nakhon, District 2

Dr. Niyom Vechakama, former Pheu Thai MP for District 2, is running for MP in Sakon Nakhon District 2 under the New Opportunity Party. Meanwhile, former MP Watcharin Sritaporn has fielded his wife as a candidate in District 7 representing the Thai People's Party.

On 28 Dec 2025 GMT+7, it was reported that this was the second day of MP candidate registration for constituency seats in Sakon Nakhon Province at the Chajuree Auditorium, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. Dr. Niyom Vechakama, former MP for Sakon Nakhon District 2 from the Pheu Thai Party, submitted his candidacy documents to run for MP in District 2 under the New Opportunity Party, following five candidates who registered on the first day:

• Mr. Apichat Teerasawasichai, former Pheu Thai MP for District 1, switched to run in District 2 as candidate number 1.
• Mr. Phasaphon Ularakul, representing the People’s Party, candidate number 2.
• Ms. Petchra Akhadsri, representing the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, candidate number 3.
• Mr. Chatree Laphrom, former Democrat Party MP, now running for the Kla Tham Party as candidate number 4.
• Ms. Napatcha Silparaya, representing the Phuea Thai Party, former provincial councillor, candidate number 5.
• And Dr. Niyom Vechakama, candidate number 6 for the New Opportunity Party.

Dr. Niyom stated that he joined the New Opportunity Party believing the public will give him a chance, trusting his track record of debating and solving issues for constituents. Additionally, there is a candidate from the Thai People's Party, Mrs. Tatsanee Sritaporn, a retired civil servant and wife of Mr. Watcharin Sritaporn, former two-term MP for Sakon Nakhon. She emphasizes the themes of developing people, creating jobs, and building careers as she competes in this election.
