Boonrit Rerungroj, former candidate for Bangkok's 33rd constituency, has resigned from the Prachachon Party to enter the justice system and prove his innocence, insisting he is not involved in the allegations after being arrested over links to a 20 billion baht drug money laundering case.
On 29 December 2025, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board launched the Black Mirror TKP operation, raiding and dismantling a drug trafficking network across 22 targets with seven arrest warrants, including areas in Bangkok. Among those with warrants is a candidate for the House of Representatives in Bangkok's 33rd constituency (Bang Phlat and Bangkok Noi districts, excluding Siriraj subdistrict), affiliated with a political party. Police investigations uncovered evidence including financial trails showing monthly payments from the network, and a couple arrested earlier admitted to paying this politician. This led to evidence submission to the court resulting in an arrest warrant. The candidate has been detained and is being brought to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau.Watch for the arrest warrant of the Prachachon Party's MP candidate involved in laundering 20 billion baht in drug money.)
Later, Picharn Chaowattana Wong, an executive committee member of the Prachachon Party responsible for the Bangkok election campaign, held an urgent press conference. After inquiring about Boonrit Rerungroj's New Year campaign schedule, he learned that Boonrit had an arrest warrant due to his name appearing in a company linked to money laundering. He apologized deeply to the people, especially residents of Bang Phlat and Bangkok Noi. The party had thoroughly checked all candidates' criminal records, but Boonrit had not been summoned or had an arrest warrant issued by 17 December, when checks were completed. Upon learning of this today, the party immediately informed the candidate and publicly announced the incident, affirming no concealment or protection of anyone. The party confirmed it will replace the candidate. Regarding Boonrit's case, he must undergo the justice process to prove himself, and the party will not interfere. 2. To stand firm alongside justice. Throughout the past, I have upheld the ideals of justice and public interest. Even though I am no longer a party member, my commitment to maintaining justice and revealing the truth remains unchanged.
3. Responsibility to society. I believe that proving the truth through an accountable process is the most honorable path and a demonstration of responsibility to the trust placed in me by the people.
