On 29 December 2025 GMT+7, Pol. Gen. Samran Nualma, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, led officers to expand an investigation and arrest a Lao drug trafficking network. Two suspects were arrested, both shareholders in a company involved in a money laundering case linked to drugs. Police found that the company had a turnover exceeding 20 billion baht and maintained 50 bank accounts. Financial tracing revealed transfers to a well-known political party's MP candidate in Bangkok, who was apprehended earlier this morning in the Bang Phlat area.

At approximately 09:40 GMT+7, Pichan Chaowaphatanawong, executive committee member of the Prachachon Party, held an urgent press conference to announce the replacement of the MP candidate for Bangkok District 33, Bang Phlat-Bangkok Noi (excluding Siriraj subdistrict), Boonrit Rerungroj, after the party discovered that the candidate had an arrest warrant issued in a criminal case concerning money laundering allegations.
