Anutin, dressed as a senior officer, presided over the gold leaf ceremony honoring King Rama I in Buriram, and applied gold leaf to the 37th silver canopy base. Newin offered him a sweet orange without fear of the seeds causing choking, saying they dissolve once swallowed.
At 08:00 on 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, dressed in a senior officer’s uniform, departed from Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang, to visit three Thai-Cambodian border provinces: Buriram, Surin, and Amnat Charoen. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Deputy Minister of Defence.
At 09:45 at the King Rama I Monument in Isan Subdistrict, Mueang Buriram District, Buriram Province, Anutin presided over the “Gold Leaf Ceremony Honoring King Rama I,” venerating the monument. Newin Chidchob, chairman of Buriram United Football Club and Palang Pracharath Party candidate for all 10 Buriram constituencies, along with Palang Pracharath party list candidate Ms. Traisulee Traisornkul, welcomed and joined the ceremony.
Anutin and Newin applied gold leaf to the silver and gold canopies at the four directions of the monument. During the ritual, Newin sat beneath the 37th silver canopy—out of a total of 360 canopies surrounding the monument—corresponding to the Palang Pracharath party list candidate number. They then applied gold leaf to the 37th crystal canopy base. Afterward, the Deputy Prime Minister and attendees gathered to apply gold leaf to the 37th canopy base.
Newin then handed an orange to Anutin, saying it would be easy to eat. While Anutin peeled and ate the orange, Newin asked if it was sweet. Anutin confirmed it was sweet. Reporters asked if the orange had many seeds, to which Anutin replied, “Ah, asking like that, you don’t mean well.” The reporter said, “We’re worried the Prime Minister might choke.” Anutin responded, “If you swallow them, they all dissolve.”
Meanwhile, when reporters asked Newin why number 37 was special, he replied, “It’s special because the people choose it.”
