The Pheu Thai Party presents five debt relief packages for the public, including a three-year debt holiday for farmers, one-year free installment for debts under 100,000 baht, aiming to revive the lives of indebted citizens and restore their dignity.
On 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Paopoom Rojanasakul, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, detailed the party's debt relief policy, stating, “The Pheu Thai Party’s debt relief packages are a one-time solution to restore the lives of indebted people and the dignity of Thai citizens. The policy details are as follows.”
1. Debt relief for the public: unsecured bad debts over one year, under 200,000 baht, from both private and state financial institutions, require only 10% payment to fully close and write off the debt.
2. Debt relief for retirees: unsecured bad debts over one year, under 100,000 baht, for those aged over 60 in state financial institutions, require no payment to fully close and write off the debt.
3. Farmers’ debt holiday: principal and interest paused for three years, loans up to 500,000 baht. During this period, interest is frozen, and the government pays the interest on behalf of farmers, benefiting about 3.5 million accounts with debts over 500 billion baht.
4. Write-off of informal debts: state financial institutions provide low-interest loans of 50,000 baht per account to pay off informal debts, assisting about 2 million accounts.
5. Good repayment incentive: for debts under 100,000 baht in state financial institutions, borrowers who repay well for one year receive one free installment, not exceeding 5,000 baht, as a reward to encourage financial discipline.
