Yotsanan Delighted with Pheu Thais Grassroots Policy While Campaigning for Bangkok MPs, Encounters Warm Embrace

Yotsanan campaigned with Pheu Thai candidates for Bangkok MPs in Sai Mai, receiving warm embraces and expressing pleasure with the party’s grassroots policies. Chulphan expressed concern that changing candidates could cause problems later and noted that damaged campaign signs should be handled by the police.

At 07:00 on 30 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at Wat Ko Market in Sai Mai district, Bangkok. Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, the number one prime ministerial candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, , accompanied by Mr. Chulphan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party and the number two prime ministerial candidate, led Ms. Rattikan Kaewkermee, candidate for Member of Parliament (MP) for Bangkok’s 11th constituency, along with several other Pheu Thai candidates for Bangkok MPs, to campaign in the area.

Upon arrival, Yotsanan introduced the candidates and asked for votes for Pheu Thai across all constituencies and party lists. The public warmly welcomed them, presenting roses, marigold garlands, and eagerly taking selfies with Yotsanan. At one point, a vendor hugged and kissed him on the cheek, causing him to smile shyly. Yotsanan also participated in making merit by offering alms with the candidates before walking through the market and chatting over coffee to listen to local concerns.

Later, Yotsanan gave an interview about his morning campaign activities: "The atmosphere was lively with overwhelming support. Importantly, people are beginning to remember Pheu Thai’s policies, showing they resonate with the public. The policies focus on reducing expenses; if the economy improves, incomes rise, and costs fall. There are also housing policies and debt relief since many still struggle with debt, which must be addressed first. Another immediate and distinctive policy is the 20-baht flat fare for the entire electric train line, which can be implemented immediately. For areas without electric trains, feeder transport priced at 10 baht is proposed. This is a key policy well received by the public. The crucial thing is to implement these policies immediately after winning the public’s trust on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7."

When asked whether the candidate changes in Bangkok by the People’s Party, a key rival, might benefit Pheu Thai during campaigning, Mr. Chulphan responded that Pheu Thai does not consider this a benefit in Bangkok. Candidate selection is the responsibility of each political party, and Pheu Thai strives to select the best candidates. He viewed the People’s Party’s candidate changes as possible mistakes that they must correct themselves. He acknowledged two concerns: first, if the Election Commission allows candidate changes; second, that after changes, voters must assess which candidate and party best meet their needs. He emphasized the principle that candidates should not be changed after registration to avoid problems such as bribery pressures forcing withdrawals, which could cause bigger issues in the future. Pheu Thai believes that after registration, candidates should not withdraw.

At the same time, Mr. Chulphan addressed the issue of Pheu Thai candidates’ campaign signs in Bangkok being vandalized, noting that such incidents usually involve acts by a single party. He did not blame any candidate and believed no one ordered such actions. Out of mutual respect and given Pheu Thai’s extensive election experience, the party strictly instructs candidates not to damage others’ signs. He stated that addressing these incidents is the police’s responsibility.
