Cabinet Approves Six Guidelines for Election and Referendum, Urges State Officials to Remain Neutral

The Cabinet approved six operational guidelines for voting in the election and referendum, emphasizing the strict neutrality of state officials and arranging transportation to assist people in the Thai-Cambodian border areas.

At 12:30 PM on 30 December 2025 GMT+7 at the Government House, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatthana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced after the Cabinet meeting that the Cabinet approved the Election Commission's proposed operational guidelines for the simultaneous House of Representatives election and referendum. The Cabinet requested state agencies to cooperate, assist, and support the Election Commission's work in six areas to ensure the election proceeds smoothly, transparently, and protects the rights of all groups of people as follows.

1. All state personnel at every level must perform their duties with strict neutrality.

2. Provide support for locations to be used as polling stations.

3. Request cooperation from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to inspect all polling stations for readiness to serve persons with disabilities or the elderly.

4. Support the allocation of sufficient government budget for all necessary operations.

5. In case of unrest in the Thai-Cambodian border area, state agencies shall provide vehicles to facilitate eligible voters traveling to and from polling stations.

6. Publicize the option for registered voters to cast their ballots early as announced by the Election Commission and facilitate early voting for people in areas affected by unrest to ensure their political participation rights are not affected.
