During the New Year 2026-2027, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has instructed provincial governors across the country to ensure safety and facilitate convenience for the public. Additionally, seven Thai-Cambodian border provinces have been ordered to maintain strict vigilance and be ready to respond to any possible incidents.
On 31 December 2025, Atthasit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, revealed that the ministry received instructions from the Secretariat of the Cabinet to act according to the Cabinet resolution on 30 December 2025. This followed the Prime Minister's proposal to ensure the safety of citizens during the New Year festival 2026-2027.
Atthasit stated that the Ministry of Interior has ordered and emphasized that the governors of all 76 provinces must carry out national security measures and ensure the safety of citizens' lives and property efficiently. Specifically, the governors of the seven Thai-Cambodian border provinces are to integrate cooperation with security agencies and relevant local bodies to closely monitor the situation along the entire Thai-Cambodian border. They must be fully prepared to respond immediately to any incidents that may arise, including arranging adequate supplies of essentials and drinking water in case residents need to evacuate their homes.
“All provincial governors are instructed to coordinate with the police and other relevant local agencies to be ready to assist and facilitate citizens traveling to and from their hometowns or tourist destinations, as well as to ensure overall safety of life and property for the general public,” he said.
