Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife Ja Thananon, the Prime Minister's Secretary-General, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, paid respects to Somdet Thongchai at Wat Traimit Witthayaram for good fortune on the occasion of the New Year 2026.
At 15:56 on 31 December 2025, Wat Traimit Witthayaram Worawihan posted photos onthe temple's Facebook page.The post stated: "Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul led a delegation to pay respects to His Holiness Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkhonmunee, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council and Chief Abbot of the Central Region at Wat Traimit Witthayaram, for blessings on the New Year occasion."
The photos posted by the temple showed important figures including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also Minister of Interior, his wife Thananon Niramits, the Prime Minister's Secretary-General Traisulee Traisornkul, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Arsit Sampantharat, among the group. They also paid homage to the Golden Buddha, the largest gold Buddha statue in the world.
According to reporters, Prime Minister Anutin and his group are believed to have started their visit to pay respects to His Holiness Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkhonmunee at Wat Traimit Witthayaram since 30 December 2025.
