The Election Commission posted a statement denying false news claiming it approved the 'Khon La Khrueng Plus Phase 2' project, affirming it did not approve a 40 billion baht budget to implement the program aimed at stimulating the New Year economy.
On 1 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted the Facebook page of the Election Commission Office (EC) issued a statement addressing false news circulating on social media. The clip claimed the EC had approved the 'Khon La Khrueng Plus Phase 2' project. The EC clarified that a video and messages circulating on social media alleged the EC had resolved to approve and allocate a 40 billion baht budget for the project to assist living costs and boost the economy during the New Year.
The EC Office clarified that such messages and videos are untrue. The Election Commission has never passed any resolution related to 'Khon La Khrueng Plus Phase 2,' and the Cabinet has not submitted this project to the EC for consideration in any form.
Therefore, the claim that the EC approved the 'Khon La Khrueng Plus Phase 2' project is false. The EC is currently investigating the individuals responsible for creating or disseminating this false news and will take legal action accordingly. The public is urged not to believe or share unverified messages or clips and to verify information only through the Election Commission Office or the hotline at 1444.
