Government Urges Those Unable to Vote on Election Day to Register for Advance Voting by 5 Jan

The government is encouraging citizens who cannot vote on 8 February 2026 to register for advance voting within their constituency, outside their constituency, or abroad until 5 January.

On 2 January 2026, Ms. Lalida Perwivatthana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that there are now only 37 days left until the general election for members of the House of Representatives on 8 February 2026. The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled advance voting for 1 February 2026 to facilitate voters who cannot vote in their home constituencies on election day.

The Deputy Spokesperson stated that advance voting registration has been open since 20 December 2025 and will close on 5 January 2026. Voters can register for advance voting within their constituency, outside their constituency, or abroad through various channels, especially the convenient 24-hour online system.

Those interested can find details and register through the Department of Provincial Administration's registration office website at

or select the system menu that matches their needs, such as registering for outside constituency or abroad, via the links provided on the website.

The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that advance registration is an important right for all voters, especially those who must be away from their home area on election day, such as for study, work, or living abroad. Registration ensures they can conveniently exercise their voting rights before election day in full accordance with democratic procedures.

Citizens can inquire for more details about advance voting registration at the Election Commission's website www.ect.go.th or via the EC hotline, ensuring all required information is fully provided to secure proper voting rights as stipulated.
