Somkiat, Peoples Party MP Candidate, Apologizes to Former Student After Being Exposed for Punishing a 10-Year-Old by Hanging Shoes on a Noose

Somkiat Kukiattipoom, People's Party MP candidate, has apologized to a former student after being exposed for punishing a 10-year-old child by making him hang his shoes on a shoelace around his neck and walk barefoot. He admitted this happened 20 years ago and vowed to take it as a lesson.

On 3 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Somkiat Kukiattipoom, also known as Director Somkiat, People's Party MP candidate for Suphanburi's 5th district, was exposed by a former student for punishing a 10-year-old child who had a foot injury and could not wear sneakers to school by making him hang his shoes on a shoelace around his neck and walk barefoot all day, sparking public criticism.

Recently, Somkiat Kukiattipoom posted on Facebook to apologize for the incident, stating: "I, Somkiat Kukiattipoom, would like to address the public regarding an event from about 20 years ago that affected the mental well-being of a child and became an emotional scar he still remembers today."

"I admit that although I cannot clearly recall the details of the incident, given the impact on the victim and the feelings that remain in his heart, I realize the event caused pain. I sincerely regret what happened. I have personally contacted and apologized to the victim. The former student has accepted my apology."

"I want to take this opportunity to emphasize that I will use this past event as a reminder in my life, work, and public service with caution. I kindly ask everyone not to disclose the victim's personal information or make inappropriate accusations or statements that could damage his reputation."

"I appreciate all feedback and affirm that education and politics should be based on respect for human dignity, especially for children and youth."
