Former Ayutthaya Governor Runs for MP Seat with New Opportunity Party, Aiming to Solve Recurring Provincial Issues

Veerachai Nakamas, former governor of Ayutthaya Province, is running for the MP seat in District 4 under the New Opportunity Party. He said he wants to tackle the province’s recurring problems and build upon his civil service experience.

On 3 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters from the New Opportunity Party reported that for the 2026 election in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, the party decided to nominate Veerachai Nakamas, former governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and deputy party leader, to run for MP in District 4. Veerachai explained his decision to run by saying Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is a province with strong potential in economy, history, and industry, but it also faces long-standing structural problems, including repeated flooding, fragmented water management, and urban planning that no longer fits current conditions.

Veerachai stated that his volunteering to serve as MP and contest the election under the New Opportunity Party was not driven by political trends but by recognizing the recurring issues in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya that still await systematic policy-level solutions. This candidacy builds on his more than 30 years as a civil servant and administrator, moving into the legislative role to push policies and laws that address citizens’ problems, linking local policies with national ones to produce real results in the community from day one of receiving public trust.

Veerachai said he is not a politician who talks much but someone who has worked closely with local people continuously. He has real work experience, is a practitioner who has managed areas deeply understanding structural problems, and is someone who knows, acts, and can deliver results immediately.
