Abhisit led a large Democrat Party team to assist party candidates in Bangkok with campaigning, covering four districts in one day. They promoted the policy "Thailand not poor, no tolerance for shadow capital, work honestly," declaring that if the Democrat Party is chosen the most, it will select the best party to join the government.
At 07:30 on 4 Jan 2026 GMT+7, at the Khlong Chan Housing Estate Botanical Garden on Nawamin 8, Nawamin Road, Bang Kapi District, Bangkok, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Democrat Party (DP), accompanied by Mrs. Kardej Liaopiroj, also a prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Sakoltee Phattiyakul, deputy party leader overseeing Bangkok, Mrs. Radklao Suwankhiri, deputy party leader for missions, and Mr. Ong-art Klamhaibul, party leader advisor and key party figure, joined in campaigning for Dr. Phichansak Boonmas, DP candidate for MP in district 14, Bang Kapi, number 1. Mr. Sakoltee revealed that the Democrat Party, led by Mr. Abhisit and his team, united under the "New Blue Bangkok" initiative, continuously supporting DP MP candidates in Bangkok. Today, they covered four districts, starting in the morning at the botanical garden of the Khlong Chan Housing Estate, Bang Kapi district. Then they moved to district 3, the market along Charoen Krung 103 canal area, to assist Mr. Apimuk Chantavanich, DP candidate for district 3, Yan Nawa-Yang Kho Laem area, number 3.
In the afternoon, Mr. Abhisit led the Bangkok MP team to visit district 32, including Bangkok Noi (only Siriraj subdistrict), Bangkok Yai, Phasi Charoen (except Bang Wa, Bang Duan, and Khlong Khwang subdistricts), Taling Chan (only Bang Chueak Nang subdistrict), and Thonburi (only Wat Kanlayanamit, Hirunruji, and Bang Yi Ruea subdistricts) at Wat Rakhang, to support Mr. Wisawat Thongtheerapap, DP candidate for MP in Bangkok, number 14.
The group also paid respects to Somdet To, then walked to greet local residents and market vendors at Wang Lang Market, concluding their campaign in district 33, Bang Phlat, and parts of Bangkok Noi (except Siriraj subdistrict) to support Mr. Jetsarit Lertthanasarn (Joe), DP candidate for MP in Bangkok, number 8, at the evening market near Phanurangsi Temple, Charansanitwong Road 35/37.
"It is encouraging that the Democrat Party receives increasingly positive responses from people in every area. Some areas are the party's traditional strongholds, where locals warmly welcomed the party leader, executives, and MP candidates. They have reunited in the effort to govern and develop the country forward, hoping to revive the nation’s struggling economy. This gives Bangkok residents hope that the Democrat Party will help solve the country's economic problems, tackle shadow capital, and corruption, which aligns with the party's policies. Most people have promised full support for the Democrat Party," said Mr. Sakoltee.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abhisit said the public warmly welcomed him, many having longstanding ties with the party and committing to support it again. He noted that traffic problems in eastern Bangkok stem from construction. They strive to improve public access to mass transit, such as setting a maximum fare of 30 baht for the electric train. Asked about the DP slogan "Thailand not poor, no tolerance for shadow capital, work honestly" and how to tackle shadow capital, Abhisit said the best people to fight it are the citizens. On 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7, stopping shadow capital's attempts to buy state power, the country, and the justice process depends on electing sincere, dedicated politicians. Restoring investor confidence will allow the economy to recover as in the past and achieve a prosperous Thailand. When pressed on the DP's stance about future coalition partners if they win the election, Abhisit said that if the DP is chosen the most, it will select the best party to join the government with them.
