Eknat revealed that the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, along with Sihasak and Supajee, is preparing the schedule to join the campaign trail, acknowledging that the Bangkok electoral field is challenging. He believes it remains an open market, waiting for voters to decide, amid the trend of the Democrat Party competing against the People's Party as the two main contenders in the race.
On 4 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Eknat Prompan, serving as the campaign commander for Bangkok area for the Bhumjaithai Party, accompanied by Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, former MP for Bang Phlat and Bangkok Noi, and Major Suphika Patthananuppu (Major Ploy), candidate for MP in District 32, along with Mr. Arthitjan Kuharueangrong (Art Tingkaen), candidate for MP in District 33, visited Wang Lang Market to campaign among vendors and shoppers.
Vendors urge to have the debt repaid.
During the campaign walk, vendors shouted that they want the Khon La Khrueng Plus project reinstated because it greatly boosted commerce and sales. The previous Khon La Khrueng Plus program helped them increase sales, and if it returns, it would revitalize the market.
Another vendor requested that Mr. Eknat convey to Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, that he still owes the people 2,400 baht. She urged him to repay this debt, noting that the previous Khon La Khrueng project helped the economy circulate well and made markets lively. She explained that such programs help economic circulation.
Believes residents desire the Khon La Khrueng Plus program.
Mr. Eknat revealed that during this visit, he found that people want the Khon La Khrueng Plus program and want Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul to resume it because it stimulates the economy during crises and represents responsible policy, not populist freebies.
Regarding the possibility of the Bhumjaithai Party leader campaigning in Bangkok, Mr. Eknat stated there would definitely be a surprise. The calls are not only for Mr. Anutin but also for Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew and Ms. Supajee Sutthumphun. The party has discussed and scheduled visits for ministers when they are not performing official duties.
Believes Bangkok remains an open market.
When asked which party is considered most formidable among the continuous prime ministerial candidates in Bangkok, Mr. Eknat said all parties deserve respect. Given the current situation, Bangkok is an open market where many parties have a chance to win MPs. With less than a month remaining, Bhumjaithai is confident in its good policies and candidates ready to serve in Bangkok. The party has already announced that if elected, besides Khon La Khrueng Plus and border fence projects, there will be competent personnel and a deputy prime minister trusted by Bangkokians to handle economic recovery.
Declared to fight to the very end.
Regarding the view that this election is a contest mainly between the Democrat and People's Parties, making it difficult for Bhumjaithai to catch up in Bangkok, Mr. Eknat said he has faced all kinds of challenges before, including elections and past work. No path will stop them; he will lead the candidates to fight to the very end in the remaining time. He cannot yet say how many seats will be won as Bhumjaithai has never had MPs in Bangkok before. However, from his 15 years of experience, he sees better reception this time because all candidates are determined and have improved policies to appeal to Bangkok residents. They have also recruited professionals to assist, aiming to earn trust and approval for Bhumjaithai. They will give their all today.
Believes Bangkok voters remain undecided.
Asked about the Democrat Party's internal poll showing improved popularity, and whether Bhumjaithai has conducted any early polls, Mr. Eknat said that internal polls may be self-produced, which is fine. He and Dr. Ratchada, as former MPs for Bangkok, assess that residents have not yet decided which party to support. He invited citizens to carefully consider their choice, particularly whether the chosen party can bring change or provide a trustworthy government to solve problems. Thailand is currently engaged in conflict along the border, with soldiers sacrificing. Every vote matters for the country's direction. He affirmed Bhumjaithai has very clear policies.
Confident in Bhumjaithai candidates' fighting spirit.
Mr. Eknat also stated that all Bhumjaithai candidates come with fighting hearts. Since the party never had MPs in Bangkok before, this time they must show tangible results. Though many are new faces, all have experience. Past losses do not mean surrender; everyone is determined and ready to face all challenges. The remaining time requires diligent campaigning. He has instructed candidates to report more thoroughly on their fieldwork than others and put their utmost dedication into it. The most successful formula is simple and honest communication about sacrifice. Once running as party candidates, they must unleash full energy so voters can feel it in the remaining time. He is confident in their potential as he personally selected them.
Anutin urges extra diligence in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the party leader has instructed Mr. Eknat, as the Bangkok campaign commander, to work especially hard because the field is challenging for all parties. To succeed, if others walk one hour, Bhumjaithai candidates must walk three hours; if others campaign one day, they must campaign three days. Mr. Eknat has experienced this formula himself. The key to success is to fight and strive fully; unprecedented outcomes may occur in this election.
