“Suchi Parit” Confirms He Is Great-Grandson of Luang Seri Roengrit, Decides to Resign from Economic Party Membership

Rangsi acted promptly to prevent further issues, prompting the spokesman and the 5th-ranked party-list candidate of the Economic Party to resign from party membership. Meanwhile, Suchi Parit confirmed he is the great-grandson of Luang Seri Roengrit and stated he decided to resign for other reasons as well.

On the evening of 4 Jan 2026 GMT+7, General Rangsi Kitiyanantap, leader of the Economic Party, prime ministerial candidate, and 10th-ranked party-list candidate, held an urgent press conference with Parit Ratanakulseri Roengrit, the 5th-ranked party-list candidate and party spokesman, to announce Parit's resignation from party membership. General Rangsi stated that Parit Ratanakulseri Roengrit has resigned from party membership, effective immediately, as party spokesman and party-list candidate of the Economic Party.

Parit expressed gratitude to all party staff and the party-list selection team. He said he never expected to be ranked 5th on the party list. He had managed the party's social media and public relations throughout. Seeing public discomfort about his inclusion on the list made him uneasy, and he willingly chose to remove himself from the party list. He emphasized there was no conflict with anyone; the resignation was entirely voluntary. He explained the only way to lose status as a party-list candidate is to resign from party membership. He thanked supporters of the Economic Party and wished the party success in the upcoming election.

Reporters noted that after social media unearthed Parit's background as a descendant of Luang Seri Roengrit, one of the members of the Khana Ratsadon (People's Party), and recalled that on 16 Apr 2017, Parit went to Dusit Police Station to file a report requesting the return of a boundary marker, conservatives began to scrutinize and criticize him extensively. They questioned why General Rangsi, who holds conservative views, chose this individual as a top-ranked party-list candidate, leading General Rangsi to ask Parit to resign.

Confirmed as the great-grandson of Luang Seri Roengrit.

Recently, Parit posted on Facebook clarifying that he did not falsely claim to be the great-grandson of Luang Seri Roengrit, but that he truly is his great-grandson and decided to resign on his own accord for other reasons as well.

“I sacrificed so General Rangsi could move up to rank 9. I never expected to be ranked 5th. University political activities that led to IO (Information Operations) targeting me seem quite normal. Once you register on the party list, you cannot amend or resign from it directly; the only option is to resign from party membership. Once you resign from the party, all positions must be relinquished accordingly.”

Therefore, the term 'falsely claiming' does not sit well with me. But if asked whether young people are very active in politics, I do not deny that.
