On 5 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the current unrest in the Thai-Cambodian border area has severely impacted livelihoods, occupations, homes, and property of many people. To assist those affected by the Thai-Cambodian border situation, the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCG) has launched urgent measures to help its customers and debtors whose claims TCG has paid. This applies to businesses located in seven provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border, namely Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. 1. Customer Relief Measures: For SMEs with loans guaranteed by TCG, whose credit guarantee fees are due between 7 Dec 2025 and 31 Jan 2026, the payment of guarantee fees and guarantee management fees can be deferred for six months from the due date. 2. Debtor Relief Measures: For debtors whose claims have been paid by TCG and who are currently repaying under a debt restructuring plan without default, principal and interest payments can be deferred for six months. Applications are accepted from 7 Dec 2025 to 31 Jan 2026. In cases where debtors paid by TCG are government officials (including immediate family such as parents, spouse, and children) who died or became disabled due to the border unrest, as well as civilians who died or became disabled from the conflict, TCG will waive all principal and interest for every contract on which TCG has paid claims.Tags: [debt relief, debt restructuring, payment deferral, debt forgiveness, border conflict victims]
