The People's Party has introduced Munin Pongsapan as its candidate for Minister of Justice, emphasizing the mission to restore normalcy to Thailand's justice process.
On 5 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the People's Party Facebook page posted that “The Professionals,” the People's Government management team EP.1, is ready to restore normalcy to the Thai justice system. Munin Pongsapan, former dean of the Faculty of Law at Thammasat University, is part of the People's Government management team focused on justice system reform.
They also presented his background, including his education: a doctorate in law from the University of Edinburgh, UK; a master's degree in law from the University of Cambridge, UK; and a bachelor's degree in law from Thammasat University. His experience includes serving as dean of Thammasat University's Faculty of Law.
Reporters noted that Munin will be the candidate for Minister of Justice if the People's Party succeeds in forming a government.
The party's page also shared an interview with Munin, where he explained three reasons for agreeing to the role: 1. The party’s policies, especially regarding the justice system, align with his principles and stance; 2. The party’s strong ideology and steadfast commitment to democracy and the rule of law, proven by its resilience despite multiple challenges; and 3. His personal dream to see a better Thai society for all, desiring ordinary democratic politics where crises can be resolved by the will of the people, and a justice process that is transparent, fair, independent, and free from reliance on connections or money to obtain justice.
“I do not know if the People's Party will win the election and have the opportunity to form a government, but I hereby express my intention to leave the classroom where I have taught theory and work together to turn this dream into reality—toward democratic politics and a legal system under the rule of law,” said Mr. Munin.
