The Prime Minister revealed that he has not yet called a security meeting following Cambodian forces firing a K gun into the border area, stating that the military is handling the situation.
On 6 Jan 2026 at 11:48 a.m. at the Government House, after the Cabinet meeting, reporters asked Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul about updates after Thai soldiers were injured by gunfire from Cambodian forces near Chong Yok, Hill 469, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province earlier that morning. When asked if the Cabinet discussed this, Anutin said there was nothing new, they are monitoring the situation, and that today's Cabinet agenda was light.
When asked if there would be any security meetings today, the Prime Minister did not stop but briefly said while walking back to the Thai Khu Fah Building at the Government House that the military is currently taking action.
