Thai Sang Thai unveils the “Thai Childcare Coupon” offering 2,000 baht per month from pregnancy until the child reaches six years old to reduce parents' burdens. Sudarat noted that if a 4 billion baht budget can be allocated for MotoGP, then investing in raising Thai children is certainly possible.
On 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Khun Ying Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of the Thai Sang Thai party, held a press conference to announce a policy aimed at alleviating the burdens faced by Thai people. She highlighted the alarming decline in birth rates, with only 460,000 newborns per year, attributing this to parents’ concerns over child-rearing expenses. This decline is expected to severely impact Thailand's economy soon, potentially limiting GDP growth to no more than 2%, due to a shrinking working-age population and reduced purchasing power. Meanwhile, families with children already face significant financial strain, which adversely affects children's nutrition and brain development.
Khun Ying Sudarat further explained that Thai Sang Thai is launching a policy to relieve Thai citizens' worries about having children by providing a monthly childcare coupon of 2,000 baht from pregnancy until the child is six years old. This age range is critical for optimal brain and physical development. The coupon can be exchanged for milk, vitamins, and essential childcare items as recommended by doctors involved in the program to ensure Thai children receive proper nutrition and cognitive support. This initiative aims to reduce parental financial burdens, invest in raising quality future citizens vital to nation-building, and encourage couples to decide to have children to address the low birth rate problem.
Regarding questions about the feasibility and source of the multi-billion baht annual budget, Thai Sang Thai insists the program is worthwhile and achievable with transparent, corruption-free management and by cutting wasteful spending. This would free up funds to comfortably invest in Thailand’s children's future. They compared that if a 4 billion baht budget can be allocated for MotoGP, then investing in the nation's future generations should also be possible. The party urges parents to trust their proven administrative experience to help ease the burdens of raising children.
