Vibrant Campaigning for 2026 Election: Yotsanan Wongsawat Leads Pheu Thai Leaders at Bang Yai Market, Receives Support from Vendors

The atmosphere was lively as Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai's prime ministerial candidate, accompanied by party leaders, campaigned at Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi Province. They met with local residents, and a vendor gave him a traditional herbal balm for encouragement, saying there is no need to pay attention to polls since people will vote as they choose.

At 08:00 on 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's candidate for prime minister, led party executives and candidates for the House of Representatives (MPs) to visit Bang Yai Market, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, to support Mr. Prathomkan Uam-ong, candidate for MP in Nonthaburi's 6th constituency, in his campaign. The atmosphere was warm, with many residents and vendors greeting them, presenting flowers, and requesting photos to show support. During the market walk, a fruit vendor called him over to talk and gave Mr. Yotsanan a bottle of traditional herbal balm to sniff for relaxation during the campaign.

The fruit vendor offered words of encouragement to Mr. Yotsanan: "The passion comes from within. People will vote as they wish anyway. Just keep moving forward and don’t worry about the current polls, because the real support is much deeper underground." This brought smiles and encouragement to the team.

At 09:00, after greeting the public, Mr. Yotsanan proceeded to pay respects at the shrine of King Taksin the Great located at Bang Yai Market for good fortune before continuing with his duties. The Pheu Thai party executives who joined the visit included Mr. Suang Thienthong, deputy party leader and party-list candidate; Mr. Pongkwin Jungroongkit, deputy party leader and party-list candidate; Mr. Paopoom Rojanasakul, deputy party leader and party-list candidate; Mr. Sukit Srijomkwan, party spokesperson and party-list candidate; Mr. Prathomkan Uam-ong, candidate for MP Nonthaburi constituency 6; Ms. Napada Phetjinda, party-list candidate; Mr. Nithat Srinon, party-list candidate; Ms. Surapee Rungroj, party-list candidate; as well as other Pheu Thai candidates for Nonthaburi.

Mr. Yotsanan said in an interview that they see great potential for development in Nonthaburi Province, especially the Bang Yai area. They plan to promote transportation to make this area a hub for agricultural products, food, and arts and culture. They are committed to making Nonthaburi a beautiful and prominent city by selecting suitable candidates to contest every constituency, all of whom have gathered here.

Having examined issues related to rice, agricultural products, and fruits, he is confident that Nonthaburi can be a model city supporting urban expansion. Regarding the electric train, which now reaches Nonthaburi, during their previous administration the fare was set at 20 baht, but it has since risen. If they return to power, fares will revert to 20 baht. He urged residents of Nonthaburi to believe that the province can improve and to support both the party and its candidates.

At 10:00, Mr. Yotsanan and his team met community leaders and discussed traffic issues at Al-Istiqlal Mosque in Thung Khru District. Upon arrival, locals presented roses and garlands of marigolds to Mr. Yotsanan, joking, "Bringing a handsome man breaks hearts." Haji Sukri Sareem, secretary of Al-Istiqlal Mosque, presented Mr. Yotsanan with a Kapiyah cap.

Mr. Yotsanan said they place great importance on multiculturalism, which is why they came here. Bangkok is a place for everyone to live together equally, including access to halal food and making government facilities suitable for all cultures. Currently, Muslim tourism must receive cultural equality. After hearing from the exhibition, he believes this should not be confined to here but should be promoted throughout Bangkok. They have sought publicity spaces to raise awareness of Muslim history. Although Thailand is a Buddhist country, this should not limit religious equality; full acceptance is necessary. The Pheu Thai Party is ready to listen to proposals that can become policies benefiting Muslims. Exchanging information will be beneficial for Thailand.
