“Rambo Isan” exposed that some operators are illegally importing cheap cassava from Cambodia, causing Thai agricultural prices to fall and farmers to be pressured by middlemen. He revealed that vote-buying has already begun in Korat’s District 10, offering 1,000 baht per person in the first round, and appealed to voters to elect representatives to parliament to solve these problems.
On 8 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Seksakol Atthawong, or “Rambo Isan,” candidate for the House of Representatives in Nakhon Ratchasima’s District 10 under the New Opportunity Party, said after meeting with residents in District 10, which includes Khon Buri, Chok Chai, and Chaloem Phra Kiat districts, he was warmly welcomed. The biggest concern from villagers was the persistently low cassava prices each year, causing farmers to suffer losses.
Seksakol further explained that the issue stems from operators illegally importing cheap cassava from Cambodia and falsely labeling it as Thai cassava. This causes Thai cassava to sell at low prices and farmers to be further pressured by middlemen. Additionally, villagers want solutions for wild elephants from Thap Lan National Park damaging crops and for disputed boundaries of Thap Lan National Park encroaching on farmland. He volunteered to address all three problems if elected as their representative.
He also learned from residents that some candidates have begun offering 1,000 baht per voter to buy votes, which he warned is very dangerous to democracy. If candidates invest heavily in buying votes and are elected, they will surely seek to recover their money. He urged voters in District 10 to carefully consider their choice before voting on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7.
“I ask the people of Korat once more to give me a chance. I will volunteer to seriously solve these problems, acting immediately—not just talking during campaign visits.”
Meanwhile, Seksakol highlighted past achievements benefiting District 10 residents, including securing budget from then-Minister of Transport Chatchart Sittipunt to build a four-lane road from Chok Chai to Khon Buri, improving transportation over the previous two-lane road. He also worked with then-Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin to address wild elephants venturing outside the park by promoting food sources inside the forest to prevent them from damaging farmland.
During his tenure in the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Cabinet resolved to fix disputed Thap Lan National Park boundaries overlapping farmland by creating a One Map integrating new park boundary maps. Areas overlapping farmland but not dense forest would be allowed for villagers to prove land rights to secure their livelihoods. Seksakol said he does not know where this plan has stalled despite Cabinet approval. He pledged to earnestly resolve this if voters in Korat’s District 10 choose Seksakol Atthawong, number 5, and the New Opportunity Party, number 44.
