Choosing orange means choosing orange: Piyabutr sharply warned not to reveal which party is spreading rumors that People’s Party MPs will raise their hands to vote for a prime minister from another party. He emphasized this is impossible, saying this election surpasses vested-interest quotas, and introduced the management team ready to start work immediately.
8 Jan 2026 GMT+7 Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, serving as campaign assistant for the People’s Party, traveled to campaign and give a speech in Sakon Nakhon for the People’s Party. He said that since founding the Future Forward Party in 2018, they have prioritized Sakon Nakhon, visiting many times when the party was still unknown, and people did not know Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, the former party leader. The orange party was just starting here, which helped them win MPs to become the third-largest party. He entered parliament expecting to serve four years but was ousted after 11 months because the Constitutional Court dissolved the party and banned him for 10 years. His colleagues formed the Move Forward Party, gaining 14.4 million votes and preparing to nominate Pita Limjaroenrat as prime minister, but the Senate blocked them and dissolved Move Forward. Now, they formed the third party named People’s Party, led by Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, who is the prime minister candidate. The elite fear that if they govern, power will shift to the people. They are afraid of us, so they must support us.
“This time, brothers and sisters ask if fighting means we’ll get a government. We voted twice before and didn’t get one. Did we waste our vote? Absolutely not. The more votes the People’s Party gets, it shows that the mechanisms attacking us for nine years are ineffective—they are blunt bullets that cannot harm us. Vote for all 250 to make it clear who is who.”
Piyabutr continued that this time, the People’s Party is gradually revealing its management team. Traditionally, people elect representatives who then choose the prime minister. This time, the People’s Party is one step ahead, saying that if trusted, people will see ministers who will manage the government—each a knowledgeable individual with experience matched to their ministry’s role. It’s time to end the quota system, vested-interest groups, and factional leaders.
He emphasized that the election is about a month away, arriving sooner than expected. The 2023 election brought an unstable government because Move Forward, with many votes, should have formed a government but was blocked by the Senate. Various parties combined votes, and internal conflicts made the coalition unstable and unable to govern. This is a consequence of the 2023 election. Therefore, this election is extremely important, especially since there will be no Senate. “Enough with all the strange deal-making until the number one party doesn’t become the government.”
Piyabutr then recounted campaigning, mentioning that some people expressed concern and asked if voting for the People’s Party meant they would support a prime minister from another party. He asked where they got that idea. “Our party fields many candidates; why would we vote for someone else? They said they didn’t know but heard many rumors and became worried. Listen, don’t let me find out which political party is spreading these rumors. Don’t let it spread that voting orange means getting another party’s prime minister. I said, which part of the brain thinks like that? Those spreading such rumors—how is that possible? If the People’s Party ranks first in the 2026 election, it will rightfully form the government and certainly nominate Mr. Natthapong as prime minister. Choosing orange means getting orange, absolutely.”
In closing, Piyabutr noted that this election is important for many reasons and is Thailand’s first with three ballots and two polling booths. In the first booth, voters choose MPs with a green ballot for constituency candidates and a pink ballot for party list number 46. Then, at the adjacent booth, there is a yellow ballot for a referendum asking if voters approve drafting a new constitution. He urged people to vote yes overwhelmingly to demonstrate the power of the people, the highest authority. Then, no Senate or other institution can block the drafting of a new constitution.
