“Yotsanan” Leads Pheu Thai Team Campaigning at Saraphi Morning Market, Chiang Mai, Welcomed with Pork Rind Garlands

“Yotsanan” led the Pheu Thai party team to Chiang Mai, campaigning at the Saraphi morning market where locals warmly welcomed them with pork rind and marigold garlands. He pledged to revive Chiang Mai, beginning with clean air and improving the livelihoods of agricultural communities.

On 9 January 2026, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai party prime ministerial candidate, led Dr. Pethai Tetsolan, candidate for Chiang Mai’s 2nd district, and their team to meet merchants and shoppers at the Sanitation Market (Yang Noeng), Saraphi district, Chiang Mai. The atmosphere was lively, with vendors presenting garlands of marigold flowers and pork rinds. Yotsanan greeted and spoke with locals, inquiring about their living conditions, especially economic well-being, and asking how Pheu Thai could assist if elected to government.

Yotsanan addressed plans for Chiang Mai, highlighting transportation issues, solving water problems through dredging the Ping River, road construction, and tourism as key areas. He emphasized agricultural products like longan and expressed his desire for Chiang Mai to be a top destination. He mentioned efforts on the Clean Air Management Act, led continuously by Pheu Thai MPs, aiming for clean air. He vowed to revitalize Chiang Mai and called on residents to give Pheu Thai a chance to transform the country starting from Chiang Mai.

Before concluding, Yotsanan and his team joined a traditional breakfast and old-style coffee at a rice porridge shop in front of Saraphi district office.

Reclaiming sovereignty: Long-term fruit warehouses must belong to Thai people.

At 10:30 a.m., Yotsanan, accompanied by Mr. Julapan Amornwiwat, Pheu Thai party leader and prime ministerial candidate, and Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, election director and prime ministerial candidate, visited a longan orchard in Mae Rang subdistrict, Pa Sang district, Lamphun province. They supported Mr. Rangsarn Maneerat, candidate for Lamphun’s 2nd district, number 6, in campaigning. They listened to farmers’ concerns about cultivation costs and longan prices. Farmers reflected on recent price issues of longan and mango, noting government assistance has been inadequate. They urged continued promotion of the Longan Strategy Act, which passed the House of Representatives but stalled in the Senate due to parliament dissolution.

Yotsanan stated they would push forward with the Longan Strategy Act and introduce policies for cold storage nationwide to support exports, noting many foreign fruit warehouses have entered Thailand. He pledged to reclaim sovereignty, insisting warehouses must belong to Thai people. Regarding longan, they aim to increase value by producing cosmetics and medicines. He also reiterated a policy announced on 8 January to subsidize citizens earning under 3,000 baht per month, supplementing their income to restore human dignity, similar to the previous 30-baht healthcare policy, representing the spirit of the Thai Rak Thai Party's legacy. He called on Pheu Thai candidates to uphold this commitment.

Afterwards, Yotsanan and his team toured the longan orchard, picking and eating fruit directly from the trees. Locals presented roses and carnations and took photos with Yotsanan.
