
Pheu Thai promotes the “No Thai Left Poor” policy, topping up incomes of Thais below the poverty line by up to 36,000 baht per year. “Pao Phum” declares poverty will end and Thais will be free from poverty.
On 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Pao Phum Rojanasakul, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party and former Deputy Finance Minister, revealed details of the new policy. “No Thai Left Poor”
Pao Phum said Thailand’s poverty line is about 3,000 baht per month or roughly 36,000 baht annually. Those earning less than this are considered unable to meet basic living needs, thus classified as poor. Approximately 3.4 million people in Thailand fall into this group. Pheu Thai will top up incomes for those below the poverty line (36,000 baht/year) to lift them above it, citing examples:
• Income 0 or unemployed: top-up 36,000 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
• Income 10,000 baht/year: top-up 26,000 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
• Income 20,000 baht/year: top-up 16,000 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
• Income 30,000 baht/year: top-up 6,000 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
• Income 35,000 baht/year: top-up 1,000 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
• Income 36,000 baht/year: top-up 0 baht/year, total income 36,000 baht/year.
Pao Phum stated that Pheu Thai aims to declare war on poverty, working to eliminate it from Thai society and restore dignity and respect to the Thai people. “Poverty will end; Thais will be free from poverty.”
