Anutin Opens Prime Minister’s Office to Government Officials’ Children on Children’s Day

Prime Minister Anutin opened his office in the Thai Khu Fah Building to the children of Government House officials for their first experience sitting in the Prime Minister’s chair on Children’s Day, expressing hope that today’s youth will become the nation’s future and use their knowledge to serve the country. The atmosphere was lively, with dinosaurs making a comeback this year.

At 3:30 p.m. on 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave children of government officials and staff working within the Government House the chance to sit in the Prime Minister’s chair in celebration of National Children’s Day 2026. This annual event is organized because on Children’s Day, which falls on 10 Jan this year, these officials are busy hosting activities for visiting children and thus lack time to take their own children to Children’s Day events.

The Prime Minister welcomed the children at his office in the Thai Khu Fah Building and personally invited them to sit in the Prime Minister’s chair. On his desk were certificates with blank spaces for the children to write their names in the position of “Future Prime Minister.” The atmosphere was very lively, with children excited to have the opportunity to sit in the Prime Minister’s chair. Some posed creatively for photos, while others posed lying back in the chair or jumping and clapping with the Prime Minister.

At 4:30 p.m., the Prime Minister left the Thai Khu Fah Building to join activities for the children of Government House officials on the lawn in front of the building. He greeted the children, saying, “Hello to all the children and parents. We just met earlier; everyone took photos in the Prime Minister’s office and signed as future Prime Ministers of Thailand. Keep this as a reminder that one day the future will become the present. I hope our youth will be capable individuals who can support us in old age. I encourage parents to wish their children a good future with knowledge and skills to serve the nation. Congratulations to all parents raising their children.”

The Prime Minister said, “About 40-50 children came earlier. We see the future in all of you. It’s rare we get to meet like this, so enjoy the atmosphere. The weather today is pleasantly cool. On 10 Jan, there will be more Children’s Day events at the Government House, and many here may have to help with those, so may not have the chance to bring their children. That’s why we opened the office today, before Children’s Day, since parents have been working many months and some have only seen each other a little. Today, enjoy and be happy. I wish all parents success in their careers and government duties, and I hope all children grow strong, knowledgeable, happy, healthy, and live long. Happy Children’s Day.”

The Prime Minister then mingled with the children, taking photos with them in a friendly manner. He also toured various activity booths set up for Children’s Day. At one point, he stopped to watch a band performing the songs "Jai Sang Ma" and "Som San" by the band Loso, singing along happily.

Reporters noted that this year’s Children’s Day activities at the Government House featured many booths, such as a junior spokesperson zone at the Naree Samosorn Building where children could act as government spokespeople. In front of the Thai Khu Fah Building, microcars were displayed, and dinosaurs were also featured this year.

On Children’s Day, 10 Jan, the Prime Minister’s schedule includes presiding over the opening ceremony of National Children’s Day 2026 at the Government House at 9:00 a.m. He will take photos with children and youth, including disabled and disadvantaged children from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and children of fallen soldiers from the Thai-Cambodian border conflict, totaling 26, in the Prime Minister’s office. He will then officially open the National Children’s Day celebrations, deliver a speech to children and youth, and visit exhibitions at the Santi Maitri Building. In the afternoon at 1:15 p.m., he will attend the National Children’s Day event of the Air Force at the aircraft parking area of Squadron 601, Wing 6, Don Mueang.
