‘A. Chen’ Declares Chiang Mai Entirely Red, Appeals to ‘Thaksin’s’ Nephew Who Has Returned

Yotsanan Wongsawat appeals to the people of Chiang Mai, saying Thaksin’s nephew has returned and announces his intention to claim the entire province for the red camp. His wife brings their son and daughter to support him beside the stage for the first time.

On 9 Jan 2026 at 14:15 GMT+7, Yotsanan Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party’s prime ministerial candidate, along with his team, visited Chom Thong Kit Kaset warehouse in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, to support Natthapat Ratphathai, candidate for Chiang Mai MP, constituency 8, number 3, in campaigning. A large crowd awaited his speech. Yotsanan said in part, “We understand the hardships the people face, as reflected by the MP candidates. Our only solution is to overhaul Thailand and Chiang Mai. We must unite. Political stability is crucial. I ask everyone to support Pheu Thai and not split the vote. Vote for both the candidate and the party.”

At 16:10 GMT+7, Yotsanan and his team arrived at Muang Khiao Temple in San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, to support Jakrapon Tangsutthitham, candidate for Chiang Mai MP, constituency 3, number 8, during his campaign. Yotsanan said in part, “Yotsanan, nephew of Prime Minister Thaksin, has returned home. This event must not be missed. I urge you to vote overwhelmingly for the Pheu Thai Party, choose Yotsanan as prime minister, and elect local people to govern.”

He declared Chiang Mai entirely red.

At 18:30 GMT+7 at the Chalerm Phrakiat 80th Birthday Anniversary Hall, Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, Chiang Mai Province, Pheu Thai Party held a major rally led by Yotsanan Wongsawat, the party’s prime ministerial candidate; Suriya Juangroongruangkit, election director and prime ministerial candidate for Pheu Thai; Julaphan Amornwiwat, party leader and prime ministerial candidate; along with all 10 Pheu Thai candidates for Chiang Mai constituencies. A lively crowd of supporters gathered in cool weather. Yotsanan said, “Today is a good day as the people of Chiang Mai unite. I declare to all Thailand that Chiang Mai is now red. We will bring tourists back to Chiang Mai; the Lanna Airport will continue to develop. Chiang Mai’s transport must be number one. We will develop education so Chiang Mai University ranks among the world’s top 100 universities, and continue the ODOS (One District One Scholarship) policy to encourage our people to develop their hometowns. I ask for your confidence that we cannot underestimate the upcoming election. I seek your promise and support to vote for Pheu Thai in all 10 constituencies, to claim the entire province. Pheu Thai does not focus on creating enemies; Thailand must move forward. Vote for both the party and its candidates, and elect Chiang Mai's children as prime minister and ministers.”

Reporters noted that at this rally, Nuntakan Sinsaveekul, Yotsanan’s wife, brought their son and daughter to show support beside the stage for the first time.
