New Opportunity Party Launches Major Rally at Lan Khon Muang, Announces Inclusive, Equitable, and Fair Welfare State Policy

The New Opportunity Party held a major rally at Lan Khon Muang, promoting policies to work with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration on environmental preservation. Jatuporn expressed confidence as a former professional civil servant and promoted an inclusive, equitable, and fair welfare state policy that benefits all.

On 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7, the New Opportunity Party held a major rally at Lan Khon Muang, Bangkok, from 16:30 to 20:00. Before the rally, party leader Jatuporn Buruspat met with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt at the City Hall and then gave a media interview.

Discussion with Governor Chadchart on tackling dust pollution.

Jatuporn stated that he came to speak to the people of Bangkok because the party has candidates in all 33 districts and must work closely with the governor. One key collaboration with Governor Chadchart has been environmental issues, especially PM 2.5 dust pollution. The governor believes all parties should adopt this as a government policy. From his time working with Chadchart as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, environmental conditions have gradually improved due to cooperation between government agencies and local authorities. The New Opportunity Party emphasizes four key policies, including disaster management—particularly environmental issues like droughts, floods, and PM 2.5 dust—which have persistently affected Bangkok residents.

Affirming New Opportunity as a choice for Thai people.

Jatuporn also said that many party executives are former officials who worked with the BMA, and they believe they can be a significant force for Bangkok residents and work effectively alongside the BMA. He is confident that many candidates are strong and awaits public support. He reaffirmed that the New Opportunity Party represents an opportunity for all Thai people.

Claiming professional civil servants surpass politicians.

When asked if former civil servants could compete against professional political parties, Jatuporn replied that civil servants might actually be more professional. The party’s policy is to manage by combining the experience of former civil servants with the private sector to benefit their work. He stressed the importance of representing former civil servants and implementing policies effectively, with civil servants collaborating closely. Currently, the party’s campaign is receiving positive public response. He plans to visit subdistrict areas fully to support candidates.

Promoting equal welfare.

Regarding policy, the party emphasizes the welfare state because they want all Thai people to access welfare equally, leaving no one behind. A strong foundation enables overcoming many issues, including the economy. They campaign to reduce public expenses such as electricity and water bills and aim to enhance various sectors, including agriculture, to increase Thailand’s income. The party is skilled in disaster management since Thailand is surrounded by seas and often first affected by events like floods and PM 2.5 dust. They will strive to address these issues effectively to minimize disaster losses through accurate warnings and designated safe zones for residents.

Jatuporn takes the stage to lead the rally.

At the rally, candidates from all 33 Bangkok districts were introduced, and party representatives spoke on various issues, including Tanakorn Jitisara and the party’s prime ministerial candidate, Jatuporn Buruspat, along with Dr. Tosaporn Serirak and Praphat Jongsanguan.

Proposal for official vehicles to be electric.

All then took the stage to speak. Jatuporn said that before the rally, he discussed with the Bangkok governor the ongoing problem of PM 2.5 dust pollution, which results from the large number of vehicles. When he was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, he proposed that official government vehicles should be electric to reduce pollution. This issue requires solutions, and when atmospheric pressure drops, mechanisms must be used to address the problem. He aims to be elected to manage this issue so Bangkok can have clean air.

Adding small parks for the public.

Jatuporn outlined a policy to increase green spaces by creating small parks for the public’s happiness. Every area in Bangkok must have sufficient lighting for safety. They plan a "Bright Bangkok 24/7" policy ensuring no dark areas, supporting tourism as Bangkok is a key destination. Installing CCTV cameras to enhance public security aligns with this. If Bangkok thrives, it can connect happily with other provinces. Additionally, they plan to tackle the city’s daily waste problem, approximately 10,000 tons per day, by studying effective waste management solutions.

The party’s four main policies are: 1. Thailand must have an inclusive, equitable, and fair welfare state; 2. Economic policies addressing debt problems; 3. Long-term disaster management to prevent Bangkok floods; and 4. Social issues, including decisively protecting Thailand’s sovereignty from infringements.

Dr. Tosaporn offers to oversee elderly health care.

Dr. Tosaporn said he recently joined the New Opportunity Party. Two vital areas for citizens are the Ministry of Public Health, which requires medical expertise, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security for improving citizens’ lives. The party will address elderly issues, as past governments often promised adequate social welfare for the elderly, but allowances remain insufficient and must be improved. He also mentioned problems like homelessness and the need to provide proper housing for those without support.
