Government House was lively in welcoming National Children's Day 2026. Nong Chompoo, aged 1 year and 4 months, became the first child to sit in the Prime Minister's chair, while children wrote messages of encouragement to frontline soldiers, thanking them for protecting the country.
On 10 January 2026, the atmosphere at the National Children's Day event at Government House was vibrant from early morning, with children, youth, and their guardians attending in large numbers amid creative activities and fun throughout the day.
This year, Government House added excitement by displaying two dinosaur statues from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment again after more than two years. These dinosaurs were first exhibited during the administration of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha before being absent during the governments of Srettha and Paetongtarn, thrilling children and their guardians alike.
Inside Government House, the event was packed with fun activities, snacks, toys, and numerous booths, open from 08:00 to 15:30.
For popular activities such as “Sitting in the Prime Minister’s Chair” and “Touring the Thai Khu Fah Building,” children were required to dress neatly—no sleeveless shirts, shorts, or sandals—and had to register and receive wristbands. After participating, every child received a souvenir to take home.
The first child to arrive at the Chamai Maruchet Gate of Government House around 05:00 was Wipaporn Glantanont, known as Nong Chompoo, aged 1 year and 4 months. She came with her grandmother Saengchan Glantanont and older brother from Samut Prakan Province (their family residence is in Nakhon Ratchasima Province).
Grandmother Saengchan revealed the family has attended the National Children's Day event at Government House annually since 2018, admiring every prime minister's leadership. This year marked Nong Chompoo’s first participation in the event at Government House.
At 08:14, Ms. Traisulee Traisoronakul, Secretary to the Prime Minister, escorted Grandmother Saengchan, Nong Chompoo, and Nong Chok on a tour of the Thai Khu Fah Building, personally carrying Nong Chompoo up to the Prime Minister’s office in a friendly atmosphere.
Additionally, the event featured a board titled “From the Children’s Hearts to the Soldiers,” where children wrote messages encouraging soldiers serving along the border. Nong Chok, the second child to sit in the Prime Minister’s chair, was the first to write: “Thank you, soldiers, for protecting Thailand for all of us.” Other children also wrote supportive messages such as “Soldiers, keep fighting hard” and “Wishing soldiers strength.”
A touching moment occurred when 26 children of brave soldiers who died in the Thai-Cambodian border conflict attended this year’s Children's Day event and were scheduled to meet the Prime Minister amid a warm and meaningful atmosphere celebrating National Children's Day 2026.
