Election Commission Announces Readiness for Subdistrict Administrative Organization Elections Nationwide on 11 Jan

The Election Commission has announced its readiness for nationwide Subdistrict Administrative Organization elections on 11 January, advising voters to remember the ballot colors: green for council member votes and pink for chief executive votes.

On 10 January 2026, Acting Lt. Col. Phaskorn Siripakayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, held a final briefing on preparations for elections of council members and chiefs of the Subdistrict Administrative Organizations (SAOs) in a total of 4,985 locations nationwide, scheduled for 11 January. He urged the public to carefully check ballot colors before voting.

Acting Lt. Col. Phaskorn added that to ensure correct voting, the Election Commission emphasizes that voters remember the ballot colors: green ballots are for electing SAO council members, and pink ballots are for electing SAO chiefs. For elections in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, covering 15 SAOs, the vote has been postponed to Sunday, 18 January. This is due to the area being a border zone affected by conflict, with some residents still relocating from evacuation centers back to their homes, requiring an additional week for readiness.

The Deputy Secretary-General further stated that candidates are prohibited from campaigning from 6:00 p.m. on 10 January until midnight on election day (11 January). Violations may result in imprisonment up to six months, a fine up to 10,000 baht, or both. Employers who prevent employees from exercising their voting rights face harsher penalties of up to two years in prison, fines up to 40,000 baht, or both.
