Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat and Minister Narumon led the Ministry of Education in launching the grand National Children's Day 2026 celebration, promoting the concept “Good Learning, Good Morality” to help Thai children understand their roots and move forward toward the nation’s future.
On 10 January 2026, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, along with Mr. Ong-art Wongprayoon, Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Suthep Kaengsantia, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and senior ministry officials warmly welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, who presided over the National Children's Day 2026 opening ceremony at the Ministry of Education. The atmosphere was lively with music from the marching band and an honor guard of scouts standing in formation to receive the dignitaries with full respect.
Before the official opening ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, and the delegation paid respects at the statue of King Rama VI for auspiciousness. They then led the officials and attendees in a one-minute tribute to honor the immeasurable royal benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
Professor Dr. Narumon said at the opening ceremony that the Ministry of Education has continuously hosted National Children's Day since 1955, marking this year as the 71st anniversary. The event received collaboration from all sectors across Bangkok, the metropolitan area, all 77 provinces, and the southern border provinces to bring happiness and gifts to children nationwide.
Today's event at the Ministry of Education was organized under the theme “Good Learning, Good Morality,” dividing the learning space into four main zones to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Zone 1, Light of Wisdom, focuses on history and modern technology; Zone 2, Creative Earth Lab, promotes innovation and environmental awareness; Zone 3, Sufficiency for Happiness, teaches the philosophy of sufficiency economy for sustainable living; and Zone 4, Water Wonder Zone, fosters conservation of forests and water. Additionally, the highlight activity “Snap and Share” invited children to participate for a chance to win from over 100,000 prepared prizes, delivering both joy and education.
During the opening ceremony, Lt. Col. Thammanat said he felt honored to meet the youth, noting that the Ministry of Education is the most important ministry, acting as the “future of the nation” by shaping Thai children into the country's future pillars. He emphasized that modern Thai children must not forget their roots, must learn history, and understand their civic duties, such as those outlined in the “Ten Duties of Children” song, which younger generations may be less familiar with but remains crucial in instilling a sense of responsibility to uphold the nation, religion, and monarchy—the pillars that have sustained the country with love and unity.
"In the next 10 to 12 years, the world will belong to all of you, the younger generation. Therefore, we adults must help build a solid foundation in both academics and morality so that you can grow to care for and preserve Thailand for the future," Lt. Col. Thammanat said.
Subsequently, Professor Dr. Narumon and the Ministry of Education executives guided Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat on a tour of over 100 activity booths at the event, featuring more than 100,000 gifts. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, with the Deputy Prime Minister engaging warmly with children and their guardians. He also met the "Mon Thong Wittaya" team, led by their coach and “Nong Tae,” who contributed to the event's vibrant and inspiring spirit for the youth.
Afterwards, Lt. Col. Thammanat, Professor Dr. Narumon, and Ministry of Education officials jointly opened the 386th Youth Relations event of the Metropolitan Police Bureau at the sub-stage of the Office of the Basic Education Commission building.
“Today, the Ministry of Education has held a grand National Children's Day 2026 celebration to allow children and youth to fully enjoy the day. Besides their duties of discipline, the youth relations group also embraces the National Children's Day motto: ‘Love Thailand, Care for the World.’ To do so, we must understand the nation's main institutions and its long history, comprising three pillars: 1. The nation, which has kept Thailand standing to this day; 2. Religion, which anchors the spirit; and 3. The monarchy, the most important pillar. I invite children to ‘care for the world’ by looking after the environment and disposing of waste properly to keep homes and schools clean. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, through the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department, continues the rainmaking project initiated by King Rama IX, which also helps reduce air dust,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
