On 10 Jan 2026 at 1:00 PM at The Brick Startup Space in Chiang Mai, Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai’s prime minister candidate, listened to startup entrepreneurs’ feedback and business promotion ideas, including plans to develop Chiang Mai as a regional startup hub. After the discussion, Yotsanan said Pheu Thai supports overhauling education to make Thailand a high-income economy. This includes early childhood education and vocational training linked to foreign investment, focusing on upskilling and reskilling. They emphasize teaching critical and analytical thinking due to AI’s rise, aiming to close the gap between private and public schools so parents don’t have to overspend. At the university level, they will promote research. Today, he listened to startup entrepreneurs’ requests for the next government, which will help push the innovation ecosystem, promote startup investment, and support in-depth research and marketing so startups can meet government needs. This will create jobs for startups and SMEs, with universities acting as incubators linked to government.
Yotsanan also said that on National Children’s Day, children are the foundation of the country. Pheu Thai aims to cultivate education so every child can access quality education, including policies on savings for newborns. Pheu Thai supports such savings policies. Another focus is inspiring children, creating hope for the country’s future, which will help children grow well. Everyone wants to see the country progress. Regarding taking his family to Chiang Mai Night Safari for National Children’s Day, he said the party has many projects started since the Thai Rak Thai era. When visiting Chiang Mai, they often check on past successes and are ready to continue them.
Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai’s prime minister candidate, commented on Democrat Party leader and prime minister candidate Abhisit Vejjajiva’s announcement that he does not rule out cooperating with Pheu Thai in government. Yotsanan said this creates a good atmosphere. If given the chance to form a government, policies must be examined for alignment, using Pheu Thai’s policies as the core. Pheu Thai welcomes cooperation with all parties. Asked which parties have compatible policies, he said many parties focus on solving economic and livelihood problems, which must be addressed and driven with new engines. He wants to support all parties with similar ideas and principles, including environmental issues that need urgent attention.
Asked about the promise to sweep all 10 Chiang Mai constituencies and how confident he is, Yotsanan said his confidence has grown significantly. His campaign at Waroros Market, an urban area, received good responses. After visiting many areas on 9 Jan, his confidence increased. In San Kamphaeng district, more people than expected came out, and he believes their policies align with what people want, boosting his confidence. Regarding the candidate switch in Chiang Mai’s urban area — from former MP Chakrapon Tangsutthitham moving to constituency 3, and Dr. Theeraphat Tonpiriya running in constituency 1 instead — Yotsanan said the urban area includes students and service workers, so they chose someone experienced locally. The candidate received positive feedback and fits well, so this is not a problem and should increase Pheu Thai’s votes.
Asked about the Justice Minister’s plan to reveal 10 parliamentary candidates involved in gray capital businesses and whether Pheu Thai is confident none of their candidates are involved, Yotsanan said he is unaware of the Ministry of Justice’s details but affirmed everything must comply with the law. He has no concerns about this.
Yotsanan also spoke about campaigning in Chiang Mai and having family support. He said his family may not always be visible supporting him, but this time they came because it coincided with Children’s Day. The party has many projects dating back to the Thai Rak Thai era. When possible, they visit to check on successes and are ready to continue them.

They received warm responses from local residents. Julapan appealed for a chance to let Pheu Thai lead the fight against poverty again, with new policies aiming for a Thailand without poverty. The focus is on supporting the elderly and disabled without income by supplementing those below the poverty line to a monthly income of 3,000 baht. He is confident Chiang Mai residents will not be disappointed and urged them to support sending Yotsanan Wongsawat, Chiang Mai native and Pheu Thai’s prime minister candidate, to serve as prime minister. Yotsanan will lead the country out of conflict and move it forward with a people-centered approach.
