Piyabutr Urges Stop to False Reports on Orange Vote, Calls for 80% Approval in Referendum

Piyabutr Saengkanokkul campaigned in Udon Thani, urging an 80% approval in the constitutional amendment referendum. He demanded an end to false reports claiming the 'orange vote' would not be counted and appealed for the People's Party to secure 180-250 seats.

On 10 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that over the weekend, Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, campaign assistant for the People's Party, toured the northeastern region. On 9 Jan, his team campaigned in Udon Thani province, supporting People's Party parliamentary candidates from morning until late evening. He began with a speech at Northeast Isan College in Kumphawapi district, then moved to Ban Pandon, Wat Sribunruang, followed by Northeast Isan College in Kud Sa subdistrict, Mueang district, then continued to Ku Kaeo district, Kon Sai subdistrict. Piyabutr concluded with a speech at Nong Prajak stage, urging voters on 8 Feb to not only vote for representatives and prime minister but also to vote on the third ballot, the yellow one, supporting the new constitution. He asked for strong support to approve the constitution, aiming for 80% approval or more, noting that higher approval would prevent the Senate from blocking the new constitution.

Piyabutr addressed concerns over accusations, criticisms, rumors, and false news circulating in many areas of Isan, including Udon Thani. He dismissed rumors that voting for the People's Party means they will vote for another party's prime minister, or that voting 'orange' means supporting another party's leader. He called these rumors lies. He emphasized that the People's Party has nominated three prime ministerial candidates, marking a new context. Regardless of what happens, if the People's Party wins the most parliamentary seats, they will form the government and appoint Natthapong Ruangpanyawut as prime minister. He urged those spreading rumors to stop. He recalled that in 2023, despite Move Forward Party winning first place, they couldn't form a government. In 2026, if the People's Party wins first place, there may be tricks to block government formation again. The only way to ensure the People's Party can form a government if they win first place is to secure a large margin of 180 to 250 seats. Then, no one can challenge the government formation. At that point, parties ranked second, third, and fourth will have to sit aside, letting the People's Party decide whom to partner with.
