NIDA Poll First Round: 69 People Support Teng as Top Prime Minister Candidate, Set to Elect MPs from the People’s Party

NIDA Poll's first round survey on the 2026 election trend found 69 people supporting “Teng Natthapong” as the top choice for prime minister, followed by “Anutin,” revealing a tendency to elect MPs from the People’s Party in both constituency and party-list seats, with Bhumjaithai Party ranking second.


On 11 January 2026, the NIDA Poll Center of the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released the results of a survey titled “First Round: Election Trend 2026.” The survey was conducted from 5-8 January 2026 among 2,500 citizens aged 18 and over, distributed across all regions, education levels, occupations, and income brackets nationwide, regarding the election trends for 2026.

When asked about the individual that people would support as prime minister today, the findings showed

Rank 1, at 24.76%, named Mr. Natthapong Rueangpanyawut (People’s Party).

Rank 2, at 20.84%, named Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul (Bhumjaithai Party).

Rank 3, at 14.12%, indicated they have not found a suitable candidate yet.

Rank 4, at 12.12%, named Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva (Democrat Party).

Rank 5, at 9.64%, named Mr. Yossanan Wongsawat (Pheu Thai Party).

Rank 6, at 5.04%, named General Rangsi Kittiyanatham (Economic Party).

Rank 7, at 2.64%, named Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan (Thai Sang Thai Party).

Rank 8, at 1.92%, named Mr. Julapan Amornwiwat (Pheu Thai Party).

Rank 9, at 1.84%, named Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul (People’s Party).

Rank 10, at 1.32%, named Mr. Peeraphan Saleerutwipak (United Thai Nation Party).

Other candidates, totaling 5.48%, included

  • Mr. Weerayut Kanchuchat (People’s Party),

Rank 2, at 21.96%, named Bhumjaithai Party.

Rank 3, at 15.72%, named Pheu Thai Party.

Rank 4, at 12.16%, named Democrat Party.

Rank 5, at 8.40%, were undecided.

Rank 6, at 4.04%, named the Economic Party.

Rank 7, at 2.20%, named United Thai Nation Party.

Rank 8, at 1.60%, named Thai Sang Thai Party.

Other parties totaling 3.52% included Kla Tham Party, Thai Move Forward Party, Palang Pracharath Party, Seri Ruam Thai Party, Sai Ruam Phalang Party, Thai Pakdee Party, Prachachat Party, Rak Chat Party, Prawat Party, and those not wishing to vote (Vote No).

Rank 3, at 15.44%, named Pheu Thai Party.

Rank 4, at 12.56%, named Democrat Party.

Rank 5, at 7.80%, were undecided.

Rank 6, at 4.16%, named the Economic Party.

Rank 7, at 2.24%, named United Thai Nation Party.

Rank 8, at 1.76%, named Thai Sang Thai Party.

Other parties totaling 3.12% included Kla Tham Party, Thai Move Forward Party, Palang Pracharath Party, Seri Ruam Thai Party, Thai Pakdee Party, Prachachat Party, Sai Ruam Phalang Party, Rak Chat Party, Prawat Party, those not wishing to vote (Vote No), and 0.12% indicated no response or no interest.
